Note: The Jets practiced on Tuesday as they prepared for their game against the Flyers. Morning skate for Winnipeg gets underway at 9:30 AM CDT so stay tuned for the pre-game report to get the full 411 ahead of the game against Philadelphia. Puck drop is at 6:30 PM CDT and following the final buzzer we want you to join the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show.

Note II:  I was at ice level as we didn’t have a photog last night so I was grabbing some shots of Daniel TorgerssonHenri Nikkanen and Wyatt Bongiovanni who were set to make their debuts in Winnipeg. So it was for this reason that I missed that the Moose would be sitting eight regulars. And right off the hop they lost Kristian Reichel after he took a big hit. He left the ice and didn’t return. Not long thereafter it was a ‘Welcome to Winnipeg’ moment for Daniel Torgersson as the Jets prospect scores his first AHL goal to give the Moose a 1-0 lead. It was a see-saw game but penalty trouble for the home side gave the momentum to the visitors who needed at least one point to clinch a playoff spot with their 4-2 win. Moose head coach Mark Morrison said after the game that it was mostly maintenance for the guys not in the lineup. Did say that there were guys with some bumps. Said Kristian Reichel is fine. He also added that Greg Meireles, who was hurt in the game against Rockford over the weekend, is expected to be out for four weeks. Today they are scheduled to practice.

Note III: The third game in the first round series between the Ice and Raiders was almost over before it began out in Prince Albert. Winnipeg built themselves a 4-0 lead after 20 which they increased to 9-0 after 40 minutes and would end 10-1 which gives them a 3-0 series lead. No rest for either team as the Ice go for the clean sweep tonight at 8 PM CDT.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Pionk hits nail on head, calls Winnipeg Jets’ season ‘embarrassing’. Given some pundits had them as a team that could compete for a Cup and at minimum were a playoff team. Instead it is an early start to the spring/summer.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ Perfetti gearing up for… summerHe may get a chance to ramp up ahead of training camp as the oldest world junior of all tine.

Winnipeg Free Press: Pionk takes ownership for his role in Jets’ disappointing season. (Paywall). It is an important thing to acknowledge the truth which this fan base is savvy enough to recognize than trying to deny the truth so many see. Next step is for him to heal up and get ready to have a bounce back season.

Winnipeg Free Press: Perfetti’s missed opportunity. (Paywall). This is one of those instances where the CBA hinders player development.

Jets video:

Sportsnet: ‘We have to have a chip on our shoulder’ Pionk speaks on disappointing season with Jets. Jets’ defenceman Neal Pionk speaks on the team’s disappointing season having high expectations going into it and how they need to carry a chip on their shoulder next season.

Sportsnet: Cole Perfetti looking to come back stronger and faster next season. Coming back after eight weeks off the ice, Cole Perfetti looks to come back as soon as possible to get to work this off-season and improve for the 2022-23 NHL season.

Moose news:

Illegal Curve Hockey: Stars use power play to clinch a playoff spot in 4-2 win over the Moose. Texas came into the game needing one point to clinch so they were hungry and Manitoba had seven regulars out of the lineup for maintenance.  Add eight penalties against the home side and it was a recipe for disaster.

Ice news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Dominant Ice make quick work of overmatched Raiders. (Paywall). After 40 minutes this game turned into the “Stop, stop he’s already dead” GIF. Mike recaps the action.

Global News: Ice trounce Raiders 10-1 for commanding series lead. That is as dominating a performance as you’re gonna see. Russ has more in his recap.

Prince Albert Daily Herald: ICE manhandle Raiders 10-1 in game three to take 3-0 stranglehold on series. Read about the game from the perspective of a writer that covers the home side.
