Note: The Jets fought back to earn themselves a point against the division leading Avalanche to conclude their homestand but it is too little too late as they find themselves down by seven points to the Stars who hold two games in hand with ten games left. They were scheduled to practice but will instead head to Ottawa where they will kick off a short two-game road trip tomorrow night.

Note II: The Moose failed to pick up a fourth straight win last night in pretty spectacular fashion as they lose 7-2 in the re-match with the Admirals. They basically no-showed the first couple of periods and were down 6-0 and being outshot 25-10. They got two goals in the 3rd (a real beauty by CJ Suess and a day in the office for Jeff Malott) but it was not nearly enough and they would fall 7-2. The good news/bad news for them is they get a chance to flush that game as they are back in action tonight but the not so good news is it is against the division leading Wolves in Chicago. Puck drop is at 7 PM.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Desperate Jets fall to league-leading Avs in OT. While it was better to get something rather than nothing it seems like an effort in futility with so little season left. Scott has more from inside the arena.

Winnipeg Sun: Samberg relishes second opportunity with the Jets. He didn’t look out of place last night in his first bit of NHL action since end of January.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets drop fourth straight in 5-4 OT loss to Avs. (Paywall). Mike gives you his thoughts from his spot inside Canada Life last night.

Global News: Jets mount late charge but Makar scores in OT to give Avalanche the win. That kid is gonna win a Norris or two.

Denver Post: Cale Makar’s overtime goal pushes Avalanche past Jets for 5th straight win. Usually when I include the Jets opponent news clippings it is because you are getting insight from a writer that covers the Jets opponent but this was written by Judy Owen who is a Winnipegger writing for the AP and who sits a few seats down in the pressbox from us.

NBC Sports: As Jets’ playoff hopes fade, focus shifts to important off-season. If last summer was the Summer of Chevy then this summer is gonna be the Summer of Introspection as this salary cap ceiling spending team, which appeared to address their area of biggest concern, will fall short of a playoff spot and that is gonna require an extra long look in the mirror by the entire organization.

Jets video:

Sportsnet: Jets’ rally impressive but not enough to take down Avalanche. Sean Reynolds and Ken Wiebe discuss the Winnipeg Jets’ loss to the Colorado Avalanche and explain why despite falling in overtime there were some positives to take from the game.

TSN: How did the season get away from the JetsFrom Paul Maurice’s decision to step down as head coach in December to the many injuries they have dealt with throughout the season, is there a single moment that stalled the Jets’ season? TSN Jets reporter Sara Orlesky shares her thoughts on where things went wrong for Winnipeg and how the team can get back on track next season.
