Winnipeg Free Press: Ladd likes possibilities on offence with two large additions.  Clearly the captain knows this move alone will not win the Stanley Cup, or even guarantee a playoff position.  However, it does improve the team and that is the type of progression he would want to see from a team building a contender.

Winnipeg Free Press: Perfect fit for Finn. He might be the oldest player on the team but his skills are just what the doctor ordered for this young team.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets turn focus to filling vacant roster positions.  While fans are elated that the Jets made an unexpected move in signing Jokinen, the reality is the team needs to secure their top RFA as well as figuring out who will be backing up Ondrej Pavelec this season.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets pick Trouba sticking with original plan.  Sounds like there are a lot of different stories going around the web but this perhaps should put the rumours to rest.

Calgary Herald:  Jokinen jets to Winnipeg after playoff miss in Calgary.  Good to pay attention to what those who used to follow Jokinen are saying about him.

The Tennessean:  Shea Weber’s future with Nashville Predators may depend on Ryan Suter.  Not surprising that the big man will want to see the direction of the ship before he decides whether to stay aboard for a long time.

The Detroit Free Press:  Free agent frenzy: Ryan Suter remains best option for Red Wings.  When you have the owner of the team heading to your farm to make a pitch, you know that they want your services, pretty, pretty, pretty badly.

Minneapolis Star Tribune: Wild ups the ante.  While Minnesota hasn’t got the ‘bold moves’ resume, perhaps it is time for them to show their loyal fans that they are prepared to be a big player.

Dallas Morning News:  Stars sign Jaromir Jagr to one-year deal for $4.55 million.  The rejuvenated Jagr had quite the impact for the Flyers last season, but is taking his show to Dallas.  Unfortunately for Jets fans, it means we won’t be seeing the hulking Czech next season.

Buffalo News: Sabres await break in trade market to fix unbalanced roster.  Buffalo was the talk of the league last season, but now are hoping that the passage of time, will allow their team to better gel for the upcoming season.
