Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Forget PariseThe Jets have said they are committed to a long term build.  This wasn’t a disingenuous statement.  Long term build through the draft means that when free agency is upon us, the Jets are looking at smaller pieces of the puzzle.  Until this team is able to seriously challenge for a Cup, there is no point in acquiring high priced free agents.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Dealing with a cold reality – Winnipeg a no-go zoneIt is a reality that cannot be easily shrugged off.  As someone who loves this city and all it has to offer, it is difficult to hear comments like these.  Of course as Gary says, those players who experience the Peg’ have a different attitude than those who have just heard stories.  End of the day, Winnipeg is not New York, L.A., Vancouver or even Toronto but most of us who live here choose to do so and that same attitude will hold for many NHL players as well.

Winnipeg Sun:  Who backs up PavelecMy bet is Alberta’s Chris Mason will be backing up Pavelec when the season starts.  He clearly loves the city, was always engaging with the media and perhaps will be given a bigger role than he had last season.

Winnipeg Sun:  Kane deserves more cashWhen IC’s Richard Pollock did his market analysis of Kane’s value, he put him in a category with a James Neal or Phil Kessel.  What type of money do you think he merits?

Winnipeg Sun:  Free agent decisions to makeSeems unusual that the brass hasn’t signed any of these guys yet.  Perhaps the focus is getting RFA Kane signed, but you would think they would want to secure some of these guys before Sunday.

Working hard on a daily basis to provide the latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news for our readers and listeners. I also appear on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show every Saturday on our YouTube channel as well as the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show after every single Jets game. And I occasionally jump in the play-by-play booth at Canada Life to provide colour analysis during Manitoba Moose games.
