Note: The Jets are off as they are on All-Star break.

Note II: The Moose were back on the ice for practice yesterday and today they will be in for another day of practice as they grind towards their weekend series with the Stars. They will be augmented by seven players from the Jets roster and now dissolved taxi squad which will give them quite the formidable D grouping of Jets prospects.

Note III: Both the Jets and Moose will get an attendance boost starting on Tuesday, February 8th with the Province of Manitoba changing capacity limitations from 250 to 50% capacity which for the Jets at Canada Life is approximately 7500 and for the Moose it is approximately 4400.

Jets news:

Global News: Kyle Connor emerges as Jets’ MVP during 1st half of NHL season. Both he and Pierre-Luc Dubois have been outstanding this season but the Jets first rounder from 2015 has really emerged this season as he goes from being a 40 goal threat to a 50 goal threat. His play overall has improved and perhaps his usage on the PK has led to greater defensive awareness for the incredibly talented forward.

Sportsnet: Jets mid-season review: Performance, consistency in need of improvement. Lots to reflect on just past the midpoint of the season and that is what Wieber does in his latest piece. Includes a preamble, key stats, best surprise so far, biggest disappointment so far and the biggest question mark.

Winnipeg Free Press: Scheifele a shell of former self. (Paywall). Hard to believe last summer the talk was about the potential role he could have on Team Canada if NHLers went to the Olympics to today. Obviously it could not be a reality because the NHL isn’t going to China but even if they were his play on the ice wouldn’t have merited him a spot.

Sportsnet: Jets in big trouble if Scheifele can’t elevate his game after breakKen isn’t wrong with his latest column. Not all the problems with the Jets lie at the feet of Mark Scheifele but he is a big part of the puzzle. It will be on him to bring whatever he can if this team wants to have a successful second half of the 2021-22 season.

Jets video:

The Rod Pedersen Show: Chat with Andrew ‘Hustler’ Paterson. The show stirred up quite an uproar from Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Jets fans when they said that the Edmonton Oilers should explore trading for Connor Hellebuyck! Winnipeg Sports Talk’s Andrew “Hustler” Paterson joined them to explain why that’s not a possibility no matter how bad the Jets are, Paul Maurice, and he tells some Super Bowl stories!
