Note: It was another busy day in Jets land on Friday with the big news being that the NHL indicating that they will not impose discipline on Winnipeg Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff with respect to the Brad Aldrich matter.  The Jets GM released a statement an hour later and is expected to speak next week. The team practiced in San Jose and coach Paul Maurice spoke for over 20 minutes which you can watch here.

Note II: Jets 2021 5th rounder Dmitri Rashevsky picked up 1G and 1A for Dynamo Moscow as they dropped their game to SKA. He’s up to 14G 9A for 23PTS in 23GP. See the goal here.

Note III:  The Jets will conclude their third and final game of the road trip tonight against the Sharks as they go for their fifth straight win. With it being an early start no morning skate so we will have to wait and see if captain Blake Wheeler, who skated on the third line, will draw back in for his first game since coming off covid-19 protocols. Check back for the pre-game report as well as any Jets updates.

Note IV: It isn’t just a Jets game day as the Moose are also in business as they look for their third straight win when they welcome Iowa to town for an afternoon matinee. Puck drop is at 2 PM and we will have the game covered.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Jets looking for fifth straight win while Sharks hope to snap three-game skid. After dropping the first two games of the season the Jets have put together quite the roll going 4-0-1 which is impressive given the covid absences of Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler. Winnipeg Sun: Cleared by NHL, Cheveldayoff still owes explanation to Jets fans and citizens of Winnipeg. I am not entirely certain at this point that most folks haven’t already seemed to have made up their minds and perhaps that is the point Scott is trying to make. By not speaking Cheveldayoff is allowing a narrative to be created.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets head coach expects NHL will learn and change as result of Blackhawks scandal. (Paywall). Paul Maurice spoke for quite a while and shared his thoughts on what he hopes happens as a result of this situation.

Winnipeg Free Press: NHL may have cleared Chevy, but plenty of questions remain. (Paywall).  Mike has a laundry list of questions for the Jets GM which he will have an opportunity to raise next week.

National Post: Very least Kevin Cheveldayoff could do is apologize for not helping Kyle Beach. The reality is that the statements released are all very carefully crafted and that is done for a reason. The true indicator will be what the GM says when he is on camera.

Sportsnet: Why Kevin Cheveldayoff still owes Kyle Beach an apology. Ken leaves little doubt about what he felt was missing (so far) from the response by Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff.

Sportsnet: Jets’ Dubois just scratching surface of true power forward potential. Wieber with his piece on how this could be the beginning of something very special in Winnipeg with number 80.

Jets video:

Sportsnet: Cheveldayoff decision a surprise for many. Sean Reynolds joins Faizal Khamisa on Sportsnet Central to discuss the NHL’s decision with Kevin Cheveldayoff and why the decision was made.

TSN: Did Cheveldayoff’s ‘lowest ranked’ position in 2010 meeting affect decision to not discipline himGino Reda is joined by TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger, who discussed the importance of Kevin Cheveldayoff’s position at the time of the meeting that took place regarding Kyle Beach in 2010, when it came to the NHL deciding not to discipline him.

TSN: How did the NHL decide Cheveldayoff was not going to be disciplinedTSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger breaks down why Gary Bettman and the NHL ultimately chose to not discipline Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff for his involvement in the Blackhawks sexual assault scandal, and who the possible replacements could be on Florida’s bench after the resignation of Joel Quenneville.
