Jets news:

Note:  According to Scott Brown, Senior Director, Corporate Communications for True North, the Winnipeg Jets have hired Perry Pearn as an Assistant Coach. You might remember Pearn as he was an assistant coach with the original Winnipeg Jets back in 1995-96.  Brown also announced that Assistant Coaches Charlie Huddy, Pascal Vincent, Wade Flaherty and Tony Borgford have all agreed to contract extensions.

Note II:  A number of NHL teams announced their pre-season schedules already, although the Jets were not one of those teams.  We do know they won’t be playing against the Red Wings, Black Hawks, Blue Jackets, Capitals, Penguins and Hurricanes.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Shopping for men in middleProbably the biggest need for the Jets right now.  While they would like to address this with a draft pick, when the Jets pick 9th, the expected ‘best players available’ will all be defencemen.  Will be interesting to see what Kevin Cheveldayoff and company do.
