Note:  The Jets lost a tough one last night in Edmonton to kick off a seven-game road trip.  They were set to practice today ahead of their re-match with the Oilers tomorrow night but they cancelled it, likely to give their players a break after back-to-back games.

Note II:  The Moose are off today after hosting a 3 on 3 tournament on Thursday.  They will be back on the ice on Saturday for a practice.

Note III: A reminder that you can watch ‘Live with Kenny and Renny’ featuring Sean Reynolds and Ken Wiebe of Sportsnet which starts at 9 AM and which will be available on their YouTube channel.’

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Ekholm trade the one to make for Jets’ GM Cheveldayoff. Another good read from Scott on what is ahead of the Jets with the trade deadline fast approaching next month. Is it time for the Jets to shoot their shot?

Sportsnet: Jets confident in ability to regroup after off-night for top guns vs. Oilers. This team hasn’t had a problem bouncing back after a loss this season.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ top guns fire blanks in loss to OilersIt wasn’t a barn burner or good old fashioned firewagon hockey. It was a sleepy contest that felt more AHL than NHL with the number of missed passes made by both teams.  The NHL couldn’t have put that game on the calendar and expected a Picaso.

Winnipeg Free Press: McDavid makes the difference. (Paywall).  His level of talent is simply difficult to comprehend some times.  If you are in the NHL you are 99.9% better than everyone else on the planet at hockey and McDavid takes that to another level.

Sportsnet: McDavid giving Oilers a ‘cheat code’ with evolution into complete superstar. Hard to argue with that headline.

Edmonton Journal: Oilers get two from McDavid and move into tie for top spot in North Division. Read about the contest from a journalist that covers the Jets opposition.

Jets video:

TSN: How will the Jets approach the trade deadline? Sitting fifth place in the NHL in goals right now, is Kyle Connor being appreciated enough outside of Winnipeg? What can we expect from the Jets between now and the trade deadline in order for them to get the pieces to make a deep playoff run? That’s Hockey weighs in.

TSN: What has made Connor so successful? Kyle Connor is Winnipeg’s leading goal scorer, and is moving up the leaderboard in the NHL. TSN’s Sara Orlesky has more on how impressive his season has been, and looks into some of the secrets to Connor’s success.

TSN: Is Kyle Connor the most underappreciated forward in the North Division? Is Kyle Connor the most underappreciated forward in the North Division? TSN Hockey analyst Mike Johnson explains why he is, and calls him “one of the best offensive wingers in the NHL”.
