Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note:  Over in Finland on Friday night 2017 4th rounder Santeri Virtanen had a good night for SaiPa assisting on two of their goals.  Ville Heinola (2019 1st rounder) picked up a primary assist in a loss for Lukko which gives him 13 assists in 17 games (as well as one goal) as he rides a five-game points streak.  Henri Nikkanen (2019 4th rounder) picked up an assist on the game-winning goal for Jukurit in OT which has him tied for ninth in Liiga scoring for U20 players.

The Athletic: Projecting the 2023-24 rankings. Folks can barely successfully predict the rankings for an upcoming season but Pronman put on his prognostication hat to try his hand at this exercise.

Winnipeg Free Press: Vesalainen not fooling around. (Paywall). This is from Friday’s papers but worth sharing again as Jay had a good chat with the 2017 1st rounder. You really get a sense of maturity from what Vesalainen had to say.

Sportsnet:  What is Western Canada’s best NHL rivalry?  The Western Canada round table with Gene Principe, Sean Reynolds, Dan Murphy & Ryan Leslie discuss which teams form the best rivalry.  While the Jets and Flames rivalry wasn’t chosen as the top rivalry obviously, it was still discussed as an up and coming one.
