Winnipeg Free Press:  More power to him.    Could Wheeler become a 30 or 40 goal power forward for the Jets or is he destined to be another big man who fails to live up to his talent?

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets still prowling for scoring punch.  Get the Bogosian deal done and then hope that you can somehow, someway find a wee bit more scoring talent for this team somewhere, anywhere.

Winnipeg Sun:  Winnipeg best fit for Jaffray.  His familiarity with the city and the organization will be to his advantage as he won’t have to acclimatize himself.

Winnipeg Sun:  He’s a big Wheel.  The Jets will have made a very good move if Wheeler can develop into the player he has the capability of becoming.

MSNBC:  What do Atlanta fans do now?  Sounds to me that the Predators are still making a play for the disenfranchised Thrashers faithful.

Around the NHL:

Toronto Star:  Leafs, Schenn set to begin talks on new contract.  I’m guessing this is a deal Brian Burke can get done.

TSN:  Stamkos agrees to five-year, $37.5M contract with Lightning.  His scoring has been unbelievable over the past two seasons and he’s only 21.  Good signing by GM Yzerman.

Detroit Free Press:  Osgood case for Hall of Fame a strong one.  Back in 2009/10 when I did a Red Wings preview for IC, I wrote this about Osgood;

The goaltending situation in the ‘D’ always seems to make fans nervous.  Chris Osgood is the Rodney Dangerfield of hockey; he just can’t get ‘no respect’.

Star-Ledger:  Devils’ hiring of Peter DeBoer.  Looks like a good hire by the Devils.  Will ask IC’s Ezzy for his opinion.

Dallas Morning News:  Stars losing $1 million a week?  Probably only on paper.  Creative accounting can make a lot of things look good or bad.
