Jets news:
Rogue: Covering the Winnipeg Jets and their first season back. Marianne Helm took pictures of the Jets for Getty Images and she shares some of the images that stood out for her in a season to remember.
Winnipeg Free Press: Scheifele joins IceCaps. Looks like the #1 Jets draft pick in 2011 has just a bit more season left in him. He will get a chance to head to the AHL and join the IceCaps for their playoff run.
Jets Official Site: Bogo reflects. He has developed quite well on the ice and has become a quick fan favourite off it as well. With his love of the outdoors, it is only a matter of time before the IC Crew shoots a new segment for the show entitled “Outdoors with the Jets”. @icdave will start it off catfish fishing at Lockport.
Winnipeg Free Press: Byfuglien to face jury on boating charges. Not surprising as it seems both sides were significantly apart on how they viewed the incident.
Winnipeg Sun: IceCaps MVP ready to move up. Postma has continued to work on all aspects of his game while with the IceCaps. He always had the offensive side of things covered but has worked on his defensive game under the St. John’s coaching staff and has reportedly improved.
Try-City Herald: Ams win a classic series. Another Jets prospect is moving to the next round. Zach Yuen and his Americans teammates knocked off Spokane last night. Yuen finished the game +2 (he finished +45 during the regular season). They now move on to face Winnipegger Brendan Leipsic (who scored last night) and the Portland Winterhawks who also won a game 7 on Wednesday night.
Affiliate news – St. John’s IceCaps:
The Telegram: Trotter eager to deliver returns on investment. There is always going to be a certain amount of risk/reward for these types of trades. If the Brandon, Manitoba native can regain his form then the Caps will have made a very good deal.
Winnipeg Sun: Winnipegger Meech has playoff fever. He will bring veteran leadership to the blueline and his return coincides with a number of other players who have recently returned to the lineup from injury.
Stanley Cup Playoff news:
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Penguins stay alive. Seriously what are we supposed to do when this series ends? Just when you thought it wouldn’t get anymore crazy, the Pens erupt for 10 goals.
Philadelphia Daily Inquirer: Bad time for Bryzgalov meltdown. When I picked the Flyers at the beginning of the regular season to make the Stanley Cup Finals (but lose to San Jose, oh boy), my expectation was that Bryzgalov would show his form as a difference maker. Unfortunately for Philly fans, he is proving a difference maker for all the wrong reasons.
Ottawa Citizen: Senators still refuse to surrender. Someone forgot to inform the Senators that underdogs are supposed to go out with a whimper. Looks like they didn’t get the memo.
The Province: Canucks blitz stuns Kings 3-1 and forces Game 5 in Vancouver. The return of Daniel Sedin shows you how much of an impact one player can have on a team. Additionally Cory Schenider continues to shine making tons of highlight reel saves, none bigger than when he stopped Dustin Brown on a shorthanded penalty shot with the Nucks up 2-1 in the 3rd. Richard’s pick for the Conn Smythe is looking quite possible if Vancouver could extract themselves from their present 1st round deficit.
