The Hockey News:  Hawerchuk talks about the return of the Jets.  Ducky has been very outspoken with the media about his 100% support for the return of the Jets to Winnipeg. IC hopes that Hawerchuk will be in town Oct.9 for the home opener against the Habs.

Around the NHL:

Boston Globe:  A lengthy look at icing call.  That seems like ‘crazy talk’.  To not allow a team killing a penalty to relieve the pressure by icing the puck would be insane.  Having said that, I would have to imagine that PP goals would increase radically.

NY Post:  NHL Arbitrator – Do as I Shea.  Will this award set the standard for elite d-men?

Delaware Online:  Leighton still part of Flyers’ crowded goaltending puzzle.  Perhaps the goaltending merry-go-round that happened in the playoffs when the Flyers ran to the cup will benefit him once again.

Vernon Morning Star:  Iginla all smiles at work.  Is there anyone who loves hockey more than this guy?  While intense, he still displays his love for playing the game each and every time he’s on the ice.

The Tennessean:  Nashville Predators prospects see Martin Gelinas as a role model.  Good guy to learn from and if the Preds young guns can develop similar habits, they will be a big benefit to the organization down the road.

Calgary Sun:  Replacing Regehr?  Flames ink Hannan.  Will he help Calgary next season make it back to the playoffs?

CBC:  No quit in Canada – Hlinka champs again.  Always helpful to watch young prospects in a high pressure situation to see how they respond.
