Jets news:

Hockey’s Future:  Ivan Telegin dominates first edition of Jets prospects awards.  If you have any question on how the Jets prospects are succeeding this year, here is a good read.  While the Jets are not viewed as overly deep with their prospect pool, they might have a few who could turn into nice pieces for this franchise if developed properly.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Buddies offside?  Get Jets pre-nup.  Never hurts to have these types of partnerships written down so you know who is entitled to what.  I have heard many stories where the ticket holder unilaterally decides to remove people  from a group.  This is the best way to protect yourself as the non-ticket holder.

Winnipeg Sun:  Future Jets gaining valuable experience.  All the young prospects will gain quite a bit as they battle in these game 7’s.  Many have come a long way since rookie training camp last September.

Jets Official Site:  A tale of two coaches.  Interesting read I added late to the site yesterday on how the Jets assistant coaches have gotten to their place behind the Winnipeg bench.  Throwing it back into today’s papers for those that may have missed it.

Affiliate news – St. John’s IceCaps:

The Telegram:  IceCaps ready to put their best skate forward.  While you always want your best players available to play, the Caps are going to need some time to adjust to having a healthy lineup again.   They have been winning without many of their best players, and hopefully their return doesn’t throw off the chemistry that has developed during their absence.

Winnipeg Sun:  Farm team ready to rock.  The Caps don’t get enough credit for what they have been able to accomplish in the last year.  They, like the Jets, had to build and run themselves a franchise in less than a year.  Luckily for the IceCaps, they had the insight of True North and have turned this into a success both on and off the ice.  Finishing 2nd in the East behind the Norfolk Admirals (Tampa’s farm team who won a professional record 27 straight games) they are a favourite to go deep in the Calder Cup playoffs.

Stanley Cup Playoff news:

Globe and Mail:  Time to look beyond puckheads for Shanahan replacement.  Has the NHL dropped the ball in having the former player who was never afraid to drop the gloves, become the arbiter of what is acceptable conduct?

Ottawa Citizen:  Fans solidly behind the team.  It could have been anyone’s game last night.  Pretty good atmosphere in the Nation’s capital as they fell to King Henrik and the Rangers 1-0.

Boston Globe:  Chara strike zaps Caps.  Should be interesting to see what happens in Game 4.  Lots of chippyness in this game as tempers finally started to flare.

CBS Sports:  Backstom given match penalty for cross-checking Rich Peverley.  Speaking of flaring tempers, at the end of the game Backstrom gave a cross-check to Peverley’s face, which resulted in a match penalty and could mean a suspension for Game 4.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch:  Blues hit a high note in San Jose.  The final score makes the game look closer than it was as the Blues gave up 2 goals late to allow the Sharks back into the game.  Pegger’ Alex Steen scored his 1st of the post season which turned out to be the game winning goal.
