Note:  The Jets are back to feeling good again after they outlasted the Oilers last night with a 1-0 shootout victory.  It wasn’t just a big win for the Jets as it was also the 700th NHL regular season win for Jets bench boss Paul Maurice.  The Jets face the Los Angeles Kings tomorrow night to conclude the five-game homestand and then they will have a few days off before The Heritage Classic next Saturday in Regina (which is also a home game for the Jets).  The Jets are set to practice today at noon so stay tuned for the Practice Report.

Note II:  The Manitoba Moose are looking to put the weekend games they played against the Iowa Wild behind them as they dropped to 1-5-0-0 on the season.  While the record doesn’t look very good it probably isn’t the best indication of the state of things with the Jets AHL franchise.  The team spent part of Sunday afternoon at the Assiniboine Park Zoo.  Today the team practices at 11 AM as they get set to head out to Grand Rapids on Thursday.

Jets news:

The Athletic Winnipeg:  Inside Paul Maurice’s journey to 700 wins.  (Paywall).  It has been quite the road from his first victory back on November 7, 1995  when his Hartford Whalers beat the San Jose Sharks 7–3 for his first NHL victory.  Ken takes you along for the ride from even before that time to now.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets, Heinola fast-approaching decision timeTo slightly modify that classic song by The Clash… Should He Stay or Should He Go?  That is the questions folks are asking as 2019 1st round pick Ville Heinola approaches the ten game mark which would see him burn off a year of his entry-level contract.

The Athletic Winnipeg: 10 stats that define the Winnipeg Jets’ first 10 games. (Paywall).  Murat looks at the good and bad including: 1)  Hellebuyck’s save percentage. 2) Jets PK. 3) Scheifele’s point total. 4) Connor’s shooting percentage. 5) Laine’s assists. 6) Ehlers penalties drawn. 7) Lack of experience of Jets D corp. 8) Missing Byfuglien. 9) Jets odds of sadness. 10) Heinola’s future.  And a bonus 11) Maurice’s 700th win.

Winnipeg Sun:  Defence rules as Jets beat Oilers in a shootoutPrior to puck drop last night there was some thought it would be old fashioned fire-wagon hockey between these two squads but it was anything but thanks to the goalies.  Check out Scott’s thoughts on the game.

Winnipeg Free Press: Hellebuyck drains Oil as Jets win 1-0 in shootout. (Paywall).  Check out Mike’s recap of the action from his spot inside Bell MTS Place.
