Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: NHL has no plans to discipline Bogosian beyond game misconduct. When I saw the hit I didn’t think that Bogosian left his feet but many thought he had. Guess the NHL agreed with my view.
Jets official site: Playoff picture. Taking a look at where the Jets sit in the East and some of tonight’s key match-up’s!
Winnipeg Free Press: Ultimate proving ground is the road. Once again goalie Ondrej Pavelec wore his heart on his sleeve as he spoke (audio link below) with the media. He wasn’t afraid to suggest that the Jets didn’t deserve to win the game. He is very aware of the need to overcome their poor road play to get a sniff of the post season.
Winnipeg Free Press: Antti climactic night for Miettinen. In the press box before the game I told Ezra that I thought he might score his first goal and unlike when I made that same prediction with Chris Thorburn, I hadn’t been making it for the 10 games previous as well. He showed some nice touch on that first goal and scored a nice one on a great pass by AHL call-up Spencer Machacek, who got his first NHL point on the goal.
Winnipeg Sun: Letdown will haunt Jets. When the Jets needed their best players to step up and be the best players on the ice, they were nowhere to be found. The Jets failed to show killer instinct when it counted last night. Losing Antropov to a lower-body injury really hurt considering he was hitting anything that moved and scoring goals.
Winnipeg Sun: Snapshots. Noel livid. Bobblehead night causes rough night for captain? Miettinen’s pre-game routine. Jones for Clitsome. Too much passing. Loss of Antropov. Fans chanting “Jordan’s better”. Not the fiercest Macacek. Bogosian’s big hit. Pavelec against Canes. Both goalies not great against Pittsburgh.
TSN: Jets schedule only gets tougher. The next 3 road games will likely determine where the Jets finish the season and they are not easy by any stretch of the imagination. They go to Pittsburgh to face one of the hottest teams in the NHL, then off to Washington for a re-match against a Caps team still not happy with the loss last week and then play a 2nd games in two nights as they jet over to Nashville and play the Predators.
Winnipeg Free Free: Just some bumps and bruises. Buff looked a bit off his game last night so you have to wonder how healthy he really is at this point in the season. It is always interesting to see how the coach uses him on the power play.
Game Recap – Hurricanes 4 Jets 3:
Winnipeg Jets: Ondrej Pavelec, Ron Hainsey, Tanner Glass, Antti Miettinen and Jim Slater.
Carolina Hurricanes: Eric Staal, Cam Ward and coach Muller. (The Staal audio is pure gold. You can hear the Hurricanes chanting “Jordan’s better” in background and Eric says “Jordan’s good, but I’m not sure he’s better”).
Illegal Curve: Coach Noel post-game press conference.
Illegal Curve: Jets on a Deadline. Game recaps, post-game audio, video highlights and the NHL.com 3 Stars.
Affiliate news – St. John’s IceCaps:
The Telegram: Injury-depleted IceCaps lose second straight. Bad news for the Caps to lose Postma to injury. They are going to have to hope that the Jets don’t need to make any more call-ups but with the injury to Antropov, who knows.
