Note: Congrats to Dave L(louroza56) who correctly guessed closest (He was off by $90) to the take home winnings of the 50/50 winner in last night’s IC Contest. He won himself some IC gear. We will run this contest again for the Capitals game on Friday. Remember to @ tweet us @illegalcurve to enter once we tweet the contest is open.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: It’s great playing at home. “There’s no place like home” said Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, and the Jets have made that statement true all season long. With last night’s victory over the Stars they run their home record to 22-10-4 (4th best in the East, 8th overall in the league). Whether it is the advantage of the last line change or the home crowd noise there has been something magical about the games played at the MTS Centre this season.
Winnipeg Free Press: NHL, players’ union to battle over realignment. While geographic realignment makes sense, the NHLPA balked at rubber stamping the league mandated plan. Of course with the chaos that is the Southeast Division, perhaps another season of development for the Jets is just what they need, before they have to deal with a division made up of the Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, Nashville, Dallas, Minnesota and Columbus.
Winnipeg Free Press: Back to where his NHL career began. Did not see “Stuuuuuuuuuuu” in the building last night but always nice to hear those comments from a former Jets 1.0 player.
Winnipeg Sun: Fehr makes most of opportunity. Many were calling it a “final” chance for the Winkler product to show up and make a statement as to why he should be back next season. He finished as 2nd star of the game after his booming slapshot (which turned out to be the game winner) gave the Jets a commanding 3-0 lead.
Winnipeg Sun: Winnipeg- where streaks go to die. While the Jets have certainly busted some streaks this season, it is worth noting that in a couple of those instances, the teams the Jets faced had played the night before elsewhere. The Bruins lost to the Jets Dec 6th 2-1 but had played Pittsburgh the previous evening. The Stars played in St. Paul last night before laying an egg in the Peg’.
Winnipeg Sun: Snapshots. Layoff doesn’t hinder Jets. Kane increasing career high. Standing ‘O’ for Fehr. Ribeiro gives Pavelec a snow shower. Jets 4th line showed a lot of life. Glass glove-gate. Clitsome’s fan club.
NBC Sports: Adam Burish chucks a glove into the crowd. Adding a bit of fuel to the fire, it sure made the final few minutes of an already decided game a bit more interesting. How soon before Tanner Glass’ glove has its own twitter account?
Game Recap – Jets 5 Stars 2:
Winnipeg Jets: Nik Antropov, Ondrej Pavelec, Andrew Ladd and Tanner Glass.
Dallas Stars: Richard Bachman, Loui Eriksson and coach Gulutzan.

Affiliate news – St. John’s IceCaps:
The Telegram: Rubber match rebound. What a bounce back game for the Caps. They lose to Hamilton on Tuesday, but destroy the Bulldogs 6-0 on Wednesday night. Spencer Machacek had a hat trick and every single IceCaps players was +1 or better.
Next opponent news – Washington Capitals:
NBC Washington: Guess who could be Back(strom) soon? The Jets certainly don’t want to see that talented Swede returning to the Caps lineup anytime soon.
Washington Post: Capitals’ top prospect, says he will remain in KHL next season. With Winnipeg staying in the Southeast next season, this doesn’t come as bad news to Jets fans.
