Note:  The Jets practiced on Tuesday and despite an absence and a collision are expected to look like the same roster they iced against the Devils on Sunday night.  Of course things can change so be sure to check out the Winnipeg Jets pre-game report at 10:30 am on here to get up-to-date news about the lines, D pairs, starting goalie and more.  Puck drop is at 7 pm.

Note II:  The Moose suffered a tough defeat against a Rampage team that hadn’t had much success this season to date but still managed to score five times against Manitoba.  No time to lick their wounds as they are in Cedar Park, Texas tonight to take on the Texas Stars in the second game of this four game road trip.  Puck drop is at 7 pm.

Note III:  With both the Jets and Moose in action tonight there won’t be an NHL This Week tonight on TSN 1290 Winnipeg.  You can hear Ez and Drew as well as yours truly on Saturday at 9 am when we kick off three hours of Winnipeg Jets and NHL talk on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Five keys to Winnipeg Jets vs Washington CapitalsKen previews the game with his five keys to the game tonight.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets forward Brendan Lemieux puts hit in rearview mirrowNo point in dwelling on it.  Just know what you need to do to avoid a similar situation because the next one won’t be a small hit (pun intended).

Winnipeg Sun:  Facing Ovechkin no big deal for Winnipeg’s LaineHe has played his idol a number of times and I gather gushing over him into the mic isn’t top on the priority list for the Finnish sniper.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Ehlers credits work at both ends of ice for offensive breakout.  (Paywall).  Certainly has been a more dynamic Dane of late.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Morrissey proving to be dependable D-man.  (Paywall).  Its amazing to think back that some labelled him a bust.  Just goes to show that you cannot write off a player because they don’t immediately step into the NHL and make an impact.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Suspension a good learning experience, says Lemieux.  (Paywall).  It isn’t a lesson that any player willingly submits themselves to but it is important that the young forward learns from it and move forward.

The Athletic Winnipeg: Kyle Connor is quietly proving he can drive a line without Wheeler and Scheifele. (Paywall).  I’ve been on the Connor bandwagon since his college days so the growth in his game doesn’t really shock me.  Having said that I was impressed on Sunday at just how phenomenal his puck pursuit/retrieval was against the Devils.

Sportsnet:  Jets rounding into form with elite top line, talented fourth line.  The importance of being able to roll out four lines in today’s NHL cannot be understated.  And when they contribute and not simply eat up minutes will go a long way for future team success.
