Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Thanks for the memories. The Moose and Canucks had a long and beneficial relationship (especially for the Canucks). You can tell that this has shaped the manner in which the Jets 2.0 will be treating their farm club in St. John’s. I suspect that the desire to win a Calder Cup is just as important to the Jets brain trust as almost any of the goals they have set for the Jets.
Winnipeg Sun: Snapshots. Third period struggles resurface. No time to lament. Struggles in back to back’s. Not all bad news last night. Blake Wheeler strikes again. Giving up a shorty. GST sparks the Jets. Schneider sweepstakes.
Winnipeg Sun: Maturing Jets growing into contenders. If the team can be kept together and add a few more assets they will be quite the formidable opponent for years to come.
The Province: Jets a rousing success on and off the ice. These Jets 2.0 are certainly here for the long haul. Sounded like a number of Jets fans invaded the Rogers Center last night as both during the ‘True North’ and during Jets goals you could hear the Jets faithful.
Vancouver Sun: Jets’ ascent no surprise to Vigneault. Considering that Winnipeg was a major development conduit for the Canucks it should come as little surprise to anyone in the organization. The Moose were run 1st class and that has transitioned into the manner in which the Jets are run.
Affiliate news – St. John’s IceCaps:
The Telegram: Shared success. A total team effort is how most teams are able to find success. This model has worked so far in the Caps inaugural season.
Next opponent news – Calgary Flames:
Calgary Herald: Junior star Sven Baertschi recalled by injury-riddled Flames. Calgary is at a point, similar to Winnipeg, that they need every single point from their games remaining to have any hope at a post season spot. They have called up their top prospect, who was scoring at an average of over 2 points per game with the WHL ‘s Portland Winterhawks.
Calgary Herald: Red-hot Glencross closing in on personal best marks. While they might have some injuries they still have plenty of players who can put the puck in the net.
