Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note:  It has been a long five days since the Jets last played a game but today they are back in game day mode as they kick off the Global Series with the Florida Panthers.  It was a busy day of practice on Wednesday and the Jets pre-game report will get you ready for today’s game with a 1 pm central time for puck drop in Helsinki.

Note II:  The Moose will practice today as they get ready to face the Chicago Wolves twice this weekend starting with a game tomorrow night at Bell MTS Place.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Jets defenceman Byfuglien building on last season as he finds his groove.  What a difference he can make which is what we saw when he returned to the lineup after missing a few games earlier this season.

Winnipeg Free Press:   Hellebuyck gets the start in Jets’ net.  (Paywall).  Not a surprise that he will be the guy today in the net but what will bear watching is whether he also starts tomorrow.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets players making most of free time in Finland. (Paywall).  Always great when you get to break up the monotony of the season with a trip to an entirely new spot for most of the players.

Winnipeg Free Press: Friends Barkov and Laine face off in Finland. (Paywall).  The time for eating wings together is over as these two Finnish stars will do battle over the next couple of days as they vie to prove who is the “daddy” of whom.

TSN: Laine lands on the Jets’ third line. Patrik Laine has no even-strength goals so far this season and will find himself on the Jets’ third line when they drop the puck in Helsinki on Thursday. But Paul Maurice believes there’s some upside to having him play with two defensive minded forwards. Sara Orlesky explains.

TSN: Jets adjusting to time difference ahead of showdown with Panthers. As the Jets continue their stay in Finland, many of the players say that they are still trying to adjust to the time difference as they try and get back into their routines ahead of their two games against the Panthers.
