Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note:  The Jets practiced on Tuesday ahead of the final game of this six-game homestand tonight against the Leafs.   With it being an earlier than normal puck drop the morning skate gets underway for Winnipeg at 9:30 am and then puck drop goes at 6 pm at Bell MTS Place.  Check out our pre-game report at 9:30 am for a full update on what you can expect from the Jets later tonight and following the game we will have all the action covered in our post-game recap.

Note II:  The Moose have another day of practice today out at the IcePlex at 10 AM.  They leave on Friday for a three-game road trip starting with a game against the Admirals in Milwaukee.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets and Maple Leafs drawing plenty of attention. As if this midweek matchup wasn’t enough for you we get a re-match on Saturday night. Should be a fun week between two talented franchies and two insane fan bases.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets’ ‘tenders a little, well… tender because of new NHL equipment rules. (Paywall).  Mike goes under the jersey with the Winnipeg goalies to learn more about the new equipment they are wearing this season.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets-Leafs matchup will be on prime-time national television in the U.S. (Paywall). All eyez on me as Tupac once said.  Except me will be Winnipeg as the eyes of the hockey world, especially in the United States turns towards Bell MTS Place.

NHL.com:  Matthews, Laine at center of budding Maple Leafs-Jets rivalry.  Of course they clearly don’t want this to be about them as Patrik Laine clearly indicated when asked about it yesterday following practice.  The Jets sniper indicated “I think it is still Winnipeg vs Toronto in my opinion”.

The Athletic: Lightbulb moment for Kyle Connor came in a game when he didn’t score. (Paywall). Once of the best writers out there Eric Duhatschek looks at the Jets winger.

Sportsnet:  Jets, Laine have no concerns about sniper’s lack of production.  Know how many goals Patrik Laine had in his first 10 games last season?  Four.  He has three this season through his first nine games.  Last season he finished with 44.  Hardly think it is time to worry about a kid who has 83 goals in 164 NHL games.

Sportsnet:  Laine vs. Matthews matchup always has players pumped.  The Maple Leafs and Jets are primed for another matchup, something that always has the players pumped up because of the rivalry between Patrik Laine and Auston Matthews.
