Note:  The Jets continued their strong play at home with a 6-1 beat down of the Avalanche last night to improve to 34-15-9 on the season.  They are now 5-2-1 in the first eight games of this ten-game home stand and sit 22-5-2 at Bell MTS Place.  The team is scheduled to practice at 12 noon as they prepare to face the Panthers on Sunday night.

Note II:  The Moose didn’t skate on Friday and will have to hope they can use that rest to get their legs going as they look for some revenge against the defending champion Griffins who beat them on Thursday night 1-0 as Manitoba kicked off an eight game home stand.  A big crowd is expected tonight so it should be a fun atmosphere.  Puck drop is at 7 pm.

Note III:  Spend your morning with us on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show as we have three hours of Winnipeg Jets, Manitoba Moose and NHL talk on TSN 1290 Winnipeg.  Show starts at 9 am.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Wheeler leads the way as defensive details key in latest win It was a good old fashioned beat down last night.  Even after the first 20 minutes with the Jets “only” holding a 1-0 lead it didn’t feel nearly so close.  Ken breaks down the game.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Mathieu Perreault spark plug of Jets engine.  (Paywall).  He has to be regarded as one of the top signings by this staff as he really has adapted well and provides this team with so much versatility.

NHL official site:  Hellebuyck wins 30th of season, Jets defeat AvalancheNot too shabby a mark for the Jets top goalie who wasn’t incredibly hard pressed in this one but considering his work load that probably isn’t a bad thing.

Illegal Curve:  Jets 6 Avalanche 1A look at some of the notable numbers and plenty of post-game audio from Blake Wheeler, Andrew  Copp and coach Maurice.

Iltalehti:  Kristian Vesalainen is ready to make the jump to Winnipeg.  (Finnish).  Finnish journalist Pekka Jalonen reporting after an interview he had with the Jets 2017 1st rounder that the Finnish sniper is looking to make the jump to Winnipeg next season.

The Athletic Winnipeg: It’s time to go all in and that means paying big for necessary upgrades. (Paywall). Murat is suggesting the Jets be bold as this trade deadline approaches.  It will be interesting to see the approach taken by Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff.

Jets audio:

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Trouba situation with Jets remains murky TSN’s Bob McKenzie joined the Big Show and touched on Patrik Laine’s season, Winnipeg’s status as a top contender and what the contract situation for Jacob Trouba looks like heading into the off-season.
