Note:  It was a tough weekend for the Jets who dropped two straight in regulation to the Blues 5-2 on Friday and Rangers 3-1 on Sunday.  Considering how formidable they’ve been at Bell MTS Place it adds to the surprise.  Today the team will have a day off as they get ready for a busy week ahead starting with the Capitals on Tuesday.

Note II:  The Moose travel back to Winnipeg today after they finished a nine-game road trip with an overtime loss in Cleveland.  Despite the loss the team was very successful on the road finishing 6-1-1-1 and remain comfortably in first place in the Western Conference.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Lundqvist stands tall as Jets fall to RangersAfter allowing two goals in the first minutes of the game (only one of which counted) it looked like it would be a long night for the King but he got dialed in and was excellent for the remainder of the game.  Ken breaks it all down.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets draw blanks with man-advantageIt has been a bit of a drought since the Jets returned back to Winnipeg for this ten game home stand.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Sunday games great for Jets’ win column until Rangers came to town.  (Paywall).  Prior to NY showing up the Jets were undefeated (6-0) in Sunday games but it came to a crashing halt yesterday.

Manitoba Post:  Jets drop back-to-back home games for first time this season Carter gives his assessment of last night’s game.

NHL:   Jets keeping closer eye on prospects with AHL affiliate in-house.  Tim with a long read on the many benefits of having the Moose in town for the Jets organization.

The Athletic:  Are the Jets playing Connor Hellebuyck too much?  (Paywall).  We discussed this topic with retired NHL goalie Marty Biron when it comes to Hellebuyck specifically on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show back in January (starts at 10 minute mark).  His thought was 60-65 games.  Of course back in the Carolina days Paul Maurice once ran Arturs Irbe for 75 games in 1999-00 and 77 games in 2000-01 so it is anyone’s guess.

Jets video:

TSN:  This one ended up being a goaltender’s battle.  Dennis Beyak and Kevin Sawyer detail how the goalies made the difference with incredible saves throughout the game, but explain how a second period stop from Henrik Lundqvist was the difference maker.

Jets post-game:

Illegal Curve:  Post-game report Head back inside Bell MTS Place for some notable numbers and post-game audio from the Jets (Wheeler, Ehlers, Perreault & coach Maurice) as well as the Rangers (Lundqvist, Skjei, Zuccarello and coach Vigneault) rooms.
