Note:  After kicking the road trip off with a tough loss in Nashville the Jets have turned things around with back to back wins including a 4-1 defeat of the Ducks yesterday afternoon.  The Jets have won five of their last six and sit just two points back of the Blues for first in the Western Conference.  There won’t be any time to rest however as they flew into San Jose and will play the Sharks tonight at SAP Center with a 9 pm CST puck drop.

Note II:  The good times also continued last night for the farm club as Manitoba continues to win picking up their fifth straight victory (first time they’ve done that since return of AHL hockey to the province) and ninth game of last ten in a 3-1 win over defending champion Grand Rapids.  They also play tonight although it is against Central Division rival Admirals in Milwaukee.  Puck drop is at 6 pm CST.

Note III:  Be sure to tune into the Illegal Curve Hockey Show at 9 am for three hours of Winnipeg Jets and NHL hockey talk on TSN 1290 Winnipeg.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Five keys to Jets vs. Sharks.  Ken’s big matchup is Dustin Byfuglien vs Brent Burns. His keys to the game include: 1) Mason stays sharp. 2) Second-line eruption. 3) No ordinary Joe’s. 4) Strenght vs. strength. 5) Myers finding his way.

Winnipeg Sun:  Little line provides big contributionWhile there was some consternation about the play of the 2nd line as collective (despite individual success) they seemed to have some strong chemistry as they help alleviate the scoring pressure felt by the Jets top line.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets hot out of the gate … Upon further review, afternoon games not so bad Paul avoided the lines and sat down to watch the game.  This is his recap.

Orange County Register:  Early Jets goals doom Ducks in 2nd straight lossWhen you see the players they are missing it is a wonder the Ducks have been able to tread water as well as they have considering they seem to be holding a 100 lbs anchor without Getzlaf and Kesler in their lineup.  Read about the game from the perspective of someone who covers Anaheim.

The Athletic Winnipeg:  One-on-one with Mark Chipman on how he brought the Jets back to Winnipeg.  (Paywall). If you’d like to know more about the backstory here you go.
