Note: The Jets finally have a game day after three days in the desert. Today is game 15 on the calendar as the Jets (8-3-3) face the Golden Knights (9-5-1) for the first time in franchise history. The Jets are looking to continue their hot play having gone 5-0-3 in their last eight games. We learned in yesterday’s Winnipeg Jets Practice Report that Connor Hellebuyck will be making his sixth straight start for Winnipeg as he puts his unbeaten record of 8-0-2 on the line tonight at T-Mobile Arena. “Morning Skate” is at 1:30 PM CST. Pre-game report will set you up for today’s game which is a late one, puck drops at 9:30 pm.
Note II: The Moose are in San Jose today and will practice at Solar 4 America Ice as they look to finish off this California road trip with a pair of games on Saturday and Sunday against the Barracuda. Manitoba has won three straight games after they dropped the first game of the six-game road trip.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Jets can’t afford letdown. As Ken writes about in the article below and in this one the Jets are going to need to continue with their quick starts.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets hope to keep hot streak going in Vegas. Ken’s big matchup is Mark Scheifele vs Golden Knights defence. His five keys to the game: 1) Wheeler driving the bus. 2) Strong 1st periods. 3) Bring your work boots. 4) Home ice advantage. 5) Beware of Real Deal Neal.
Winnipeg Sun: Las Vegas is hooked on the ‘fun-to-watch’ Golden Knights. It certainly sounds like quite the experience to see a hockey game in Sin City. Count me as jealous.
Winnipeg Free Press: Coaches around league not taking Winnipeg lightly. (Paywall). With the way the Jets have played since the first couple of games this season it isn’t a surprise that they are earning more respect around the NHL.
Winnipeg Free Press: Sin City’s most seductive street draws thrill seekers and some hockey fans. (Paywall). If you haven’t been to Vegas it is just another world. And from the sounds of it there are about a billion Jets fans in the city for tonight’s game.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets can’t take Knights lightly during streak. (Paywall). While the Jets have been streaking of late Winnipeg had to be ready to have a quick start against this strong home team.
Las Vegas Review-Journal: Golden Knights’ opponents feeling effects of ‘Vegas Flu’. When you have a 6-1-0 record as an expansion team sometimes you’ve gotta look at some of the external ways the opposing team can be impacted. Jets have a couple of advantages in this one: 1) The team has been in Vegas for four days and 2) There are gonna be a lot of Jets fans in the arena.
Sportsnet: Jets prospect report – A pipeline still full of intriguing talents. I especially like whomever that really smart guy was whose tweet was embedded in the article. A look at how some of the prospects are doing for the Jets in a number of different leagues.
The Coaches Site: From Behind the Bench – Stay Sincere by Todd Woodcroft. Bit of insight into one of the assistant coaches who stands on the Jets bench to ply his craft.
