Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Five keys to Jets vs. Blue Jackets. Paul’s list includes a big matchup (The Big-3 vs the Columbus D) and his keys to the game include: 1) More solid goaltending. 2) Bottom-six scoring. 3) Work from the farmhand. 4) Foot on the gas. 5) Stay out of the box.
Winnipeg Sun: Mason gets another chance in Jets net. He’s had some time to refresh and his first opportunity to step up for his new team will be against his former club.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets call up Connor from Moose. He has produced for the Moose and with the Jets brass in attendance on Sunday they must have liked what they saw.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets start season with familiar special-teams woes. (Paywall). The coach wasn’t hitting the panic button but we seem to be seeing more of the same when it comes to the (not so) special team play.
Winnipeg Free Press: Notes from Jets practice. Mike gives updates on the various injured players and the players coming into the lineup.
NHL.com: Connor gets chance in Jets’ top six with injury to Perreault. The organization has said they want to plug guys in from the AHL to the NHL in the same role and Kyle Connor will certainly be getting that chance playing with Bryan Little and Patrik Laine.
The Athletic Winnipeg: The huge disparity between top six & bottom six fwds is holding team back. (Paywall). In today’s NHL you need production across the board. It cannot simply come from two lines and that is what has happened in the first five Jets contests.
Jets audio:
TSN 1290 Winnipeg: Hellebuyck gobbling up rebounds. TSN Jets announcer Dennis Beyak joined the Afternoon Ride to discuss the Winnipeg Jets starting Steve Mason against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday, the three-win performance Connor Hellebuyck accumulated, how the Jets will adjust to Mathieu Perreault’s absence, and Dustin Byfuglien’s return.
TSN 1290 Winnipeg: Jets have enviable firepower, but that’s not enough to win. TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun joined the Afternoon Ride to discuss the Winnipeg Jets in the middle of a three-game win streak, saying the Jets have the scoring talent and know they need to improve their defensive structure & goaltending.
TSN 1290 Winnipeg: Huge opportunity for Connor. Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun joined Kevin Olszewski. They recap the Jets win on Saturday vs. Carolina, discuss Mathieu Perreault’s injury, where the recently recalled Kyle Connor fits in the Jets lineup and Nikolaj Ehlers being named first star of the week.
Jets video:
TSN: Ehlers continues to impress. Much like the rest of his team, it wasn’t a great first couple of games to start the season for Nik Ehlers. But confidence has been growing over the last week for the third-year Jet, who now boasts a team-leading five goals and seven points. Sara Orlesky has more.
