Note:  With the team having played three games over the past four evenings there will be a reprieve from game play this evening.  The Jets have changed things up with group 1 not on the ice but group 2 will hit the ice at 12:30 pm.  However today’s practice has greater significance as Sean Reynolds of Sportsnet first reported, that retired referee Paul Devorski will be on the ice trying to help curb the Jets penalty problems.

Note II:  It was a busy Thursday as the team re-assigned four players to their junior clubs prior to dropping the 1-0 contest to the Wild in St. Paul.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Slashing penalties pile up as ‘old habits die hard’.  (Paywall).  I don’t really have a problem as long as it is consistent and they continue to make these calls all season long and into the playoffs.  If you are going to institute a new rule then you need to call it regardless of when in the season it occurs.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Small fixes should lead to big results for the Winnipeg Jets.  (Paywall).  Former NHLer turned scribe Scott Campbell looks at all the important areas and why he believes they will be sufficiently tweaked to produce a winner here in Peg’ city.
