Note:  The Jets dropped a 4-1 decision to the visiting Oilers last night.  In case you missed any of the post-game we’ve got you covered.

Note II:  No rest for the Jets as some of the team will fly to Minnesota today as they get right back into game action tonight in St. Paul.  They play the third of seven pre-season games with puck drop at 7 pm at Xcel Energy Center as they face central division rival Wild.  The playing group will skate at 10 am with the non-playing group on the ice at 12 pm.  As always keep it locked to illegalcurve.com for pre and post game news and be sure to follow us on social media including Twitter | Facebook | Instagram.

Note III:  As an aside and not hockey related, I wanted to offer a congratulations to the Winnipeg Goldeyes for winning their second consecutive American Association title.

Jets news:

Illegal Curve:  Luke Green suffered a serious injury in Young Stars tournament.  The Jets 2016 3rd round selection was hurt back on September 11th against the Flames prospects and the defenceman will be out for some time.

The Athletic:  Season preview.  (Paywall).  Dom Luszczyszyn makes some projections for the upcoming season here in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets’ offence stalls in loss to Oilers.  Ken writes about last night’s game, bubble players and more in his recap of the game.

Winnipeg Sun:  Mason’s puck-handling skills an advantage for Jets.  No question about it once the D gets used to having a more active goalie behind them it will be something they can use to their advantage.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets lose pre-season match to McDavid-less Oilers.  (Paywall).  It wasn’t the most star-studded Edmonton team that you can expect to see during the regular season.  But plenty of hungry players looking for an opportunity gave the Jets more than they could handle last night.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Development continues for Jets first-round pick Jack Roslovic.  (Paywall).  The Jets prospect continues to trend upwards and if he is afforded the opportunity to properly develop he will be a very nice piece for this organization.

The Hockey News:  Central division pre-season division battles.  With respect to the Jets the question for Matt is who is best suited to be the second-line left winger?

Oilers 4 Jets 1:

Illegal Curve:  Post-game report.  Head back inside Bell MTS Place to hear from Steve Mason, Mark Scheifele, Tyler Myers, Nikolaj Ehlers and coach Maurice.

Jets audio:

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Roslovic a perfect fit for Connor.  Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun joined the Afternoon Ride to discuss the Winnipeg Jets bottom-six forwards, how players like Jack Roslovic and Kyle Connor could fit in, and when that could see fruition.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Wheeler-Scheifele-Laine is one of the best lines in hockey.  Scott Cullen of TSN.ca joined Kevin Olszewski and discusses if teams are better off stacking the first line or spreading out the talent and where the Wheeler/Scheifele/Laine line would rank among top lines in the NHL.

Winnipeg Sun:  Predictions galore – Michael Traikos on Matthews/Laine in Year 2, Vegas’ debut, more.  On the latest episode of Off The Post, Postmedia’s national hockey podcast busts out the crystal ball to cast predictions on the 2017-18 NHL season. Host John Matisz is joined by Michael Traikos, national hockey writer for Postmedia, to handicap some pre-season storylines.  Topic of interest for Jets fans includes: realistic expectations for Auston Matthews and Patrik Laine as sophomores.
