Note: The final road game of the 2016-17 season is here yet there is a buzz in the air with news that Eric Comrie is getting the start and Columbus native Jack Roslovic will be making their NHL debuts tonight. The Jets morning skate is at 10:30 AM with puck drop at Nationwide Arena at 6 pm.
Note II: The Moose are off today before they get back on the ice Friday to get ready for the final pair of home games of the season against Tucson.
Jets news:
ESPN: Jets top the ranks of teams on no-trade lists. (Paywall). Sometimes its good to be first on a list but this isn’t one of those cases. I know Winnipeg doesn’t like to be beaten by Edmonton but I suspect folks around here wouldn’t mind handing back this title to the folks in the City of Champions.
Columbus Dispatch: Columbus native with Winnipeg returns home for NHL debut. The hockey community is celebrating the return and debut of Jack Roslovic.
Winnipeg Sun: Five keys for the Jets to beat Columbus. Ken’s keys include: 1) Production still on the rise. 2) Local lad provides a lift. 3) Speaking of debuts. 4) Beware of Blue Jackets 5) Road warriors. And the big match-up is Trouba vs Jones.
Winnipeg Sun: Hutchinson finishes on high note. As I indicated in the recap of games 71-80 yesterday he won more games in this last block of ten (5) than he had in the previous seven blocks of ten (4).
Winnipeg Sun: Roslovic, Comrie set to live the dream with Jets. It will be a night to remember for these two as they get a chance to help the Jets get their sixth win in a row.
Winnipeg Free Press: Maurice arranges happy homecoming for Roslovic, big night for Comrie in debuts. (Paywall). Fans will be tuned in to watch these prospects get their first taste of NHL hockey.
Sportsnet: Goaltending has made Winnipeg Jets NHL’s most disappointing team. It has been a tough season between the pipes although that cannot be hung exclusively around the necks of the goalies themselves.
Illegal Curve: Jets Practice Report. Plenty doing at Nationwide Arena yesterday. We heard from Eric Comrie, Jack Roslovic and coach Maurice.
Illegal Curve: Evaluating Jets games 71-80. Including a look at Jets goal scoring, goaltending, special teams and injuries.
Moose news:
Illegal Curve: Despite Jamie Phillips making 40 saves Moose fall 2-1 in OT to Griffins. Recap includes a scoring summary, player assessment and post-game audio (De Leo, Phillips and coach Vincent).
