Note: The Jets had today as a ‘to be determined’ on their schedule as to whether the team would practice or not but they have decided, following the 3-2 win over the Flyers, to instead head out to California sans media availability. So we won’t be hearing from the Jets (unless there are any recalls) until Thursday morning when they have morning skate as they get ready to face the Kings.
Note II: The Moose will hit the ice at 11 AM for a practice at the MTS IcePlex as they get ready for a pair of back-to-back games against the Milwaukee Admirals on Thursday and Friday.
Note III: Tune into NHL This Week at 6 pm on TSN 1290 Winnipeg for two hours of Winnipeg Jets and NHL talk.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: What can the Jets learn in garbage time? As the season inevitably grinds to a halt in the next few weeks Ken looks at what an be gained over the course of the final ten games of the regular season for Jets players.
Globe and Mail: Wheeler, Scheifele lead Jets past Flyers for third straight win. Add in Mathieu Perreault and that line was quite dominant although when you consider how anemic the Philadelphia Flyers played perhaps there should be an * beside that comment.
CSN Philly: Leaking Jet fuel. A recap of the contest with a focus on the Flyers perspective.
theScore: Perreault continues torrid run with 2-point night. After the game Jets captain Blake Wheeler was quite complimentary of the things that 85 has done well for the Jets adding “Matty Perreault works incredibly hard, he’s on every puck, he creates a ton of turnovers”.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets claim victory on home ice — a place where they haven’t seen many. (Paywall). The MTS Centre was always good for energy, even if the wins were lacking, but as Mike writes even that seems lacklustre these days.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ top line just fine. They were certainly the drivers of the vehicle in last night’s win. Ken recaps the contest.
Winnipeg Sun: Nelson Nogier makes debut. You could hear the joy in his voice following his first NHL contest in just his first professional season. I asked him after the game what it was like to go from starting for the Moose on Saturday night to starting for the Jets on Tuesday “These last 48 hours have been crazy. I got the call on Sunday night and I’m just soaking everything in that I can”.
Winnipeg Sun: Home not safe for the Jets. While the title would suggest the Jets lost the game last night (which they obviously didn’t) Paul is looking at how this Jets team is on track to win less than half their home games.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets coach hasn’t earned extension. Paul gives his take on the topic of extended the Jets current bench boss and why he feels Jets should keep the pressure on their coach prior to rewarding him with another contract.
Winnipeg Sun: The great debate. Ted takes a look at the pros and cons of coach Maurice as coach of the Winnipeg Jets as we approach the end of a season where the Jets won’t make the playoffs but there has been talk of an extension.
Illegal Curve: Paul Postma not healing quickly. Not great news for the Jets defenceman who has played 65 games for the Jets this season.
Illegal Curve: Ben Chiarot out with an upper-body injury. When he took the skate Monday there was some thought he would be able to play Tuesday but it was confirmed by coach Maurice that he is out and classified as day-to-day.
Sportsnet: 11 most disappointing NHL teams of 2016–17. Seems like a fair spot for the Jets and a lot less sensational of a title than when the Jets were pronounced the most disappointing team in the NHL last week.
Game 73 – Jets 3 Flyers 2:
Illegal Curve: Post-game report. Head back inside the MTS Centre to get reaction from inside the Jets dressing room including from Blake Wheeler, Nelson Nogier, Michael Hutchinson, Mark Scheifele and coach Maurice.
Jets audio:
TSN 1290 Winnipeg: Jets haven’t maximized the roster’s potential. Travis Yost of TSN.ca speaks to Rick Ralph about the Winnipeg Jets and discusses his column that the Jets are the most disappointing team of the 2016-17 NHL season.
