Note: The Jets will hit the ice for a practice today as they get ready for four straight at the MTS Centre. First up are the Minnesota Wild who will be here tomorrow night. Update: Plenty of audio as well as lines/d pairs from today’s skate (26, 33, 31, 55 and coach) and we also have an injury update (12, 7, 56 and 57).
Note II: The Moose have a busy day today. They begin with an 11 am practice at the IcePlex and then they will be out in the community as they visit ten schools in conjunction with the team’s Stick to Reading program. They will then end their day at the winning homemade rink from the Backyard Rink Contest.
Jets news:
Sportsnet: Ondrej Pavelec opens up about road back to the NHL. It seemed highly improbable yet here we are. More on his road back to the NHL.
TSN: Jets happy with Pavelec’s play. (Video). Since being recalled by the Jets, the team has been happy with Ondrej Pavlec’s ability make some timely saves, while and giving them some confidence that may have not had before.
Winnipeg Sun: Gluttons for goals. Have to like that subheading “back away from the buffet”. Paul writes about when too many goals become a problem because you forget about what you need to get done at the other end of the ice.
Sportsnet: Hockey Central at Noon. (Video). The Panel discussion includes the up and down Winnipeg Jets, with Colby Armstrong saying, “I love watching the Jets play, but they’re so erratic.” They discuss the Jekyll and Hyde nature of this team for 4:35.
NHL.com: Comparison of Auston Matthews vs. Patrik Laine. It seemed like we had a nice little run without comparing these two but all good things must come to an end. Analysts Ed Olczyk and Pierre McGuire add their insight as does Dan Marr, director of NHL Central Scouting.
theScore: Bryan Little a quietly crucial piece of Jets’ offence. While he himself is fairly soft spoken his play on the ice speaks volumes.
Winnipeg Free Press: Offence-first tendencies bite Jets. (Paywall). If the Jets could commit to team D the way they do to the O they may be situated somewhat differently in the standings.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets haven’t turned corner. Every time we think that it has clicked with this group a game like Saturday afternoon happens that splashes some cold water on that sentiment. Ken has more on the topic in this article.
