Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  These Jets come with snipers.  Lighting the lamp hasn’t seemed to be an issue with the Jets as they, courtesy of their top six, have really pushed the team forward.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets continue to ride Pavelec.  His start on Tuesday came as a bit of a surprise so the fact that the Jets bench boss is still riding his former number one netminder cannot shock the system at this point.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jacob Trouba continues taking strides.  Because Jacob Trouba had such a pretty remarkable rookie season it is easy to forget that he is still relatively young and that like a lot of defenceman would take some time to hit his full potential.  Seems like we are just at the tip of the iceberg.

Winnipeg Free Press:  ‘Older and wiser’ Trouba puts holdout in rear-view mirror, earns praise for improved play.  (Paywall).  Defencemen like Trouba do not grow on trees so fans should really hope that the mess from this summer is truly in the past and he can be part of the long term plan here in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Pavelec has Jets coach’s confidence.  (Paywall).  Mike brings you up to speed with this report from Texas on how the veteran netminder has regained the trust of the veteran coach.

Poulin also explains why he says the Hitchcock-Yeo coaching situation in St Louis was an unprecedented situation in the NHL.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  A huge win for Jets after All Star break.   TSN 1290 analyst Trevor Kidd joins Hustler & Lawless to discuss the Winnipeg Jets win in St Louis to kick off the final 30 game stretch of the season. Kidd explains that, while Pavelec’s numbers haven’t been perfect since being called up from the AHL, the Czech netminder has been a reassuring presence in the Jets net.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg: Laine is a generational shooting talent. (Audio).  Travis Yost of TSN.ca speaks to Rick Ralph about Patrik Laine’s shooting percentage, if it is sustainable over a five year period and comparable elite NHL shooters.

Moose news:

Illegal Curve:  Moose assign Jake Baker to the ECHL Everblades.  Leaving Manitoba with just six defencemen in their lineup.  I’d think the team would make some corresponding move but we will have to wait until after skate today.

Global News:  A dog’s best friend – Manitoba Moose Chase De Leo helps Winnipeg Humane Society.  Good player on the ice and doing good work off it as well.  He has certainly embraced living in Winnipeg since day 1.
