Note: The Jets didn’t skate yesterday so we will have to wait and see if coach Maurice makes any changes to his lineup for tonight’s game against Montreal. Does Brandon Tanev draw back in or does he keep the same group together that beat the Flames on Monday?
Note II: The Moose played and lost their make up game to the Roadrunners 5-2 last night in Tucson. The team will return home today and then practice tomorrow as they get ready to face the Chicago Wolves this weekend in Winnipeg.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Hellebuyck’s excited for recent strong play, but knows he can keep improving. (Paywall). It was telling that when we chatted with the tender yesterday that you could sense the appreciation he feels towards his teammates for not losing faith in him.
Winnipeg Free Press: Spa visit positive step in Laine’s recovery. (Paywall). Lots of folks talking to concussion experts these days to get a handle on what you might expect in terms of recovery for the super rookie.
Winnipeg Free Press: I’m not saying the Jets will do it… I’m saying they could. (Paywall). With the way this season has gone there are really just a few teams that are out of the race but if you look at the standings there are still a number of teams that are within striking distance.
Winnipeg Sun: We shouldn’t cheer ‘highlight hits’ anymore. Paul had a chat with a concussion expert following the hit on Patrik Laine.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets can’t seem to find way to get over hump. The Jets inability to get over the hump has frustrated fans and the team alike as they look to put together a string. The team has won three of four and if they can continue their winning ways tonight against the top team in the Atlantic Division it should be good as they head out on the road.
Winnipeg Sun: Hellebuyck says confidence at ‘top-notch’ level. The Jets number one tender has been on the rise as he uses the confidence his teammates have in him as fuel to reach that next level.
Winnipeg Sun: Five keys to Jets vs. Canadiens. Ted’s list includes: 1) Between the pipes. 2) Take advantage. 3) Pick up the slack. 4) Make it special. 5) Home ice advantage. And his big-matchup is Bryan Little line vs. Max Pacioretty and Alex Radulov.
Illegal Curve: Winnipeg Jets Practice Report. As I wrote in the note above the Jets didn’t hit the ice but we did speak to a number of players including Mark Scheifele, Mathieu Perreault, Josh Morrissey, Connor Hellebuyck and coach Maurice.
Illegal Curve: Patrik Laine named to 2017 NHL All-Star team. Been quite a week for bonuses for the 18 year old rookie.
