Note:  The Jets will hit the ice for an afternoon contest against the Avalanche today at the MTS Centre at 2 pm.  Make sure you keep it  locked to illegalcurve.com for pre and post game news and on social media including via Twitter | Facebook | Instagram.

Note II:  It hasn’t exactly been a road trip to remember as the Moose lost again last night in Rockford 4-2 against the IceHogs bringing their record this trip to 0-2-1-0 and in last five contests to 0-3-1-1.   The Moose will have no time to relax as they will play an afternoon affair against the Wild in Iowa today at 3 pm.

Jets news:

Ottawa Sun:  Garrioch’s Sunday Column.  Always an interesting read on a Sunday morning today he mentions in his Rumours Du Jour section that the Jets and Kings haven’t discussed Ondrej Pavelec since last month’s GM meetings.  Of course Pavelec starting three of last four Moose games won’t quash conversation.

Winnipeg Free Press:  D-man can’t believe he blew it.  (Paywall).  No question that the Jets are needing more contributions from the Winnipeg back end.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jason’s Notebook.  (Paywall).  Includes: 1) Petan, Armia, Matthias ‘really, really close’. 2) P.K. troubles. 3) Ehlers scoring slump. 4) Notes.

Winnipeg Sun:  Five keys to Jets vs. Avalanche.  Ken sees these five as keys including: 1) Shoring up special teams. 2) Ehlers ready for a hot streak? 3) Enjoying the home cooking. 4) Watch out for MacKinnon. 5) Pickard’s 2nd chance. And Ken’s big matchup is: Bryan Little vs Matt Duchene.

Winnipeg Sun:  New highs for Jets’ Lowry.  He certainly is a favourite of Jets coach Paul Maurice and has been rewarded for his play.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets need to make changes to fix second period woes.  If only there was a way to eliminate that middle frame because what this team has been doing this season hasn’t been working.  A goal differential of -25 looks a lot more like the current temperature in this city rather than the goals scored for and those (mostly) against.

Global News:  Back to business for Winnipeg Jets.  Russ provides this story from the IcePlex.

Denver Post:  Calvin Pickard is getting his chances in Avalanche crease … including in hometown of Winnipeg.  Always good to get the insight into the Jets opposition from a beat writer who covers that team.

Moose news:

Global News:  Manitoba suffer fifth straight loss.  Russ breaks down the Moose loss.
