Note:  The Jets are holding an off-ice retreat today so there will be no media availability.  We should have updates on the status of the injured Jets tomorrow following morning skate.

Note II:  The Moose are still in San Diego where they will hold one more practice today at 12 noon before they depart three hours north for Bakersfield.

Jets news:

USA Today:  Five NHL storylines that deserve more attentionPatrik Laine’s bid for top rookie billing comes in at number two on this list.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets getting more production than ever from depth players Dano, Copp and Petan oh my.  Lots of contributions from down below.

Illegal Curve:  What are the Winnipeg Jets going to do when the forward core is healthySomething tells me that my question is somewhat moot as I’m not sure this Jets forward group will ever be healthy.  Another two players added to our Jets Injury Report.

NHL.com:  Jets right wing, Maple Leafs center making strides as rookies. I cannot speak about Matthews progression but it is pretty clear that while Laine still has a lot to learn about the NHL he has quickly been able to adjust to the North American game.

Globe and Mail:  Patrik Laine, Mark Scheifele help Winnipeg Jets to 3-2 shootout win over LA Kings.  Judy breaks down the events that took place Sunday afternoon in downtown Winnipeg.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets crown Kings.  After a questionable opening goal against the Jets managed to take control of the game courtesy of a Kyle Clifford major for boarding Kyle Connor.  The Jets sat back on the lead in the 3rd before NHL leading scorer Mark Scheifele ended it in a shootout.

Winnipeg Sun:  Setoguchi back after overcoming demons.  Ken spoke to the former Jets winger and his coach after the game.

Winnipeg Free Press:  The kids are making a case for long stay on the Jets bench.  (Paywall).  While the trio of Petan, Dano and Copp have all playerd really well since their recall it would appear that coach Maurice still feels that with his veterans when they are healthy they are going back into the lineup.  He said “there are certain players, I think that when you look at them and their pedigree and what they have done here, when they come back and they are healthy they are going back in the lineup”.  Of course because the Jets bench boss didn’t specify whom he was referencing he could simply indicate he was intending that comment about Bryan Little or Mathieu Perreault.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Here comes Trouba: polarizing D-man returns to MTS Centre.  (Paywall).  I braced for some potential booing from fans but none was forthcoming.  As the game progressed and fans saw what Trouba brings to the table I wasn’t too surprised they put away the boo birds.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Setoguchi winning off-ice battle.  (Paywall).  It is always nice to see someone successfully rehabilitate themselves and be able to turn their lives around.

L.A. Times:  Kings fall to Jets in shootout.  Read the recap from the perspective of King’s beat writer Lisa Dillman.  It should especially be enjoyed as this was Lisa’s last road trip covering the Kings for the L.A. Times as she has accepted a position with NHL.com.

Illegal Curve:  Alexander Burmistrov is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.  Having looked at his usage on Friday I couldn’t see anything that indicated he suffered a big injury against the Avalanche.  We didn’t get an update yet so we will likely know more on Tuesday.

Jets 3 Kings 2 in SO:

Illegal Curve:  Post-game recap.  Includes a quick breakdown of the game and post-game audio from the Jets (Wheeler, Dano, Lowry, Petan and Hellebuyck), Coach Maurice, and Kings (Setoguchi) and Coach Sutter.
