Note:  We have hit day 9 of Winnipeg Jets training camp.  The team still hasn’t made any cuts but you have to expect them to start now that they have three games under their belt.  Especially with the Manitoba Moose starting their training camp on Monday.  The team has the day off today so they won’t be skating but keep it locked to illegalcurve.com and on social media including Twitter| Facebook | Instagram for any and all Jets news.

Note II:  Following the game assistant coach Jamie Kompon provided some Jets health updates: Byfuglien – held out for precautionary (reasons) should be fine. Perreault – day to day, progressing.  Big #33 left yesterday’s game mid way but it sounds like he should be fine.  Perreault was hurt in Thursday’s game against the Wild and sounds like he will be receiving treatment today and we should have a better idea of his status on Sunday.

Note III:  Tune into the Illegal Curve Hockey Show on TSN 1290 Winnipeg starting at 9 am until 12 noon.  The guys will chat about the Jets training camp, Trouba’s trade request as well as spend part of the show with our annual NHL Fantasy Special.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets power play shines in win.  Putting the power in power play the team knocked in four of their five goals in the two minutes or less opportunity.  While assistant coach Kompon didn’t want to get too excited over it, it was a nice change from what fans are used to seeing.

Winnipeg Sun:  Maurice back from World Cup.  On his time with Team Europe as well as his thoughts on the Jacob Trouba situation.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets beat Oilers 5-1 in pre-season action.  (Paywall). Jets were riding in this affair, nobody more so than Mark Scheifele.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Maurice returns to Jets a man of the world.  (Paywall). Fans will have to hope he can bring some of that Team Europe success to this market.

Sportsnet:  Mark Scheifele scores 4 points as Jets overpower Oilers.   Looks like #55 isn’t feeling a World Cup of Hockey hangover.

Edmonton Journal:  Another special teams disaster as Cam Talbot, Oilers shelled 5-1 by Jets.  Read about the game from an Oilers beat writer’s perspective.

TSN:  Jets want Laine to do one thing, score. (Video).  Expectations for Patrik Laine are sky high from the fans but what are the Jets forecasting for their young star? Gary Lawless has more on the simple task Winnipeg has for its Finnish forward.

SI.com:  Picking breakout players for the 2016–17 season.  With all the talk of that young Finnish player who is set to make the team this season one of the SI crew feels fans should keep their focus over on a young player from Denmark.
