Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note:  In case you missed the breaking news on Saturday night, Jets RFA defenceman Jacob Trouba, via his agent Kurt Overhardt, has requested a trade from the Winnipeg Jets.  The team released a statement in response.

Note II:   Day 3 of training camp gets started at the MTS IcePlex with Group 1 on the ice at 9 am.  Groups 2 & 3 will then be on the ice at 12:15 pm before they scrimmage at 12:45 pm.  Full list of the three different groups are here.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets would send wrong message caving to impetuous players.  (Paywall).  Certainly not pulling any punches with that headline.  Paul looks at the inconsistent messaging being sent by the Trouba camp.

CSN New England:  Trouba deal is one Bruins need to get done.  And the trade spot speculation continues.

Winnipeg Sun:  Pavelec ready for latest push in crease.  Competition is going to be fierce between the three goalies who will face off for the two available spots in the next couple of weeks of training camp.

Edmonton Journal:  Jacob Trouba refuses to report to Jets camp, presents golden opportunity for Oilers.  I suspect there are 29 teams in the NHL getting ready to send in an offer to GM Kevin Cheveldayoff.  Here is one from an Edmonton perspective.

Illegal Curve:  Brendan Lemieux is week to week with a lower-body injury.  An unfortunate situation for the young prospect who was going to try to challenge for a spot.
