Note:  While I thought Friday might conclude without much action as we slipped into the weekend the Scheifele signing changed everything. Hear the conference call with with Mark Scheifele followed by one with GM Kevin Cheveldayoff who spoke for almost 12 minutes.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets debunk ‘cheapskate’ tag.  (Paywall).  Good column from Paul and rather enjoyed the couch/loveseat analogy.

Winnipeg Free Press:  This is Cederholm’s first rodeo, and he’s loving it.  (Paywall).  You got a sense of his excitement he was feeling when he shook all of our hands in Buffalo right after he was drafted by Winnipeg.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets centre signs eight-year, $49-M deal.  (Paywall).  Just when you thought you could slip into the weekend and relax we get some late breaking Friday afternoon news.  Certainly Jets fans everywhere were excited to hear about the first Winnipeg draft pick in 2011 signing long term with this franchise.

Winnipeg Sun:  Scheifele signs 8-year deal.  There was plenty of speculation as to how long a deal would get done between the Jets and Scheifele and it sounds like both sides were excited to go for the full eight years.

Illegal Curve:  Prospect Update.  A look at what prospects Sami Niku, Pavel Kraskovsky, Mikhail Berdin & Marcus Karlstrom were up to last year and what they have planned for next season.

Moose news:

Illegal Curve:  AHL will have some new rules for the 2016-17 season.  Plenty of new rules will be implemented next season.  I’m a big fan of home teams wearing both their light and dark jerseys during the year.

Illegal Curve:  Brenden Kitchton signed for one year.  I have him or Julian Melchiori as my guesses for Moose captain next season.  Kitchton is an interesting interview who never shies away from questions post-game.
