Note:  Today is the day that fans have been waiting for since the Jets season ended on April 9th and even more so on April 30th when the team moved from drafting sixth to second overall.  Follow Ezra and myself  as we will be at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo for both days of the draft so be sure to keep it locked to illegalcurve for all the latest Winnipeg Jets news.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Finnish Flash to Chevy: Laine is a no-brainer.  The fans who have voted in our poll overwhelmingly for Laine would likely agree with one of the all time favourite athletes of this community.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Poker-faced Jets GM Buffaloes reporters ahead of draft.  (Paywall).  Many in Jetsville are wondering (and based on our poll would be rather upset) as to whether Laine is such a lock or whether their GM will go away from the conventional wisdom by selecting someone else.

Winnipeg Sun:  Cheveldayoff keeping cards close to vest.  Not much of a surprise that he isn’t detailing the plans he and his team have been crafting.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets leave door open for Ladd return.  Never say never it appears.  Have Jets fans have moved on from the prospect of adding the former captain back into the mix?

Globe and Mail:  NHL draft set to mark a summer of change for Canada’s hockey teams.  No question that tonight will be franchise altering for some of the teams north of the 49th parallel.

Sportsnet:  Can Patrik Laine get the Jets back to the playoffs? (video).  Jets VP & GM Kevin Cheveldayoff joins the Tim & Sid show to discuss his plans for the draft, his thoughts on Patrik Laine & the NHL expanding to Las Vegas.

TSN:  Is Laine not a lock for the Jets? (video). Frank Seravalli and Ryan Rishaug have the latest from Canada’s Western Conference teams including whether the Jets will select Patrik Laine with the number two pick?
