Jets (and prospective Jets) @ World Championship games:
The semifinals are today:
Game 1: Russia vs. Finland. (Alexander Burmistrov, Ivan Telegin & Parik Laine).
Update: Alexander Burmistrov didn’t play. Telegin assisted on the opening goal of the game for Russia. Patrik Laine had a beauty assist (see below) over to Jokinen to help break a 1-1 tie. Ivan Telegin had to be helped off the ice after receiving a slash as he couldn’t get himself off the ice.
And for some real fun listen to the Finnish call of the second and third goals. Now that guy is a smidge excited:
Finland wins 3-1.
Game 2: Canada vs. USA (Mark Scheifele, Kyle Connor).
Update: Kyle Connor didn’t dress for the Americans. Appears to still be bothered by that undisclosed minor injury. Scheifele finished with two penalty minutes and two shots on net.
Canada wins a tight game 4-3.
Jets news:
TSN: Laine won’t wash jersey after Ovechkin hit (video). Patrik Laine admitted earlier in the tournament that his favourite player is Alex Ovechkin and after getting hit by the Russian captain during their semi-final, Laine joked that he would never wash his jersey.
