Note:  Even though the Illegal Curve Hockey Show on TSN 1290 Winnipeg is on Spring/Summer hours (9 am until 12 noon) every Saturday, today we are on from 3 pm until 6 pm live from the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame dinner.  So tune in as we spend three hours chatting about the NHL playoffs, bring you the latest Jets/Moose news and discuss hockey in Manitoba.  Guests:  Dan O’Toole (Co-Host of Fox Sports Live on FS1), Reggie Leach (former NHLer) and Paul Edmonds (Jets radio broadcaster on TSN 1290).

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Andrew Ladd’s surgery for sports hernia successful.  The Jets captain had surgery on Friday in St. Louis and he is expected to be ready for training camp.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets brass, NHL bigwig have hockey for dinner.  When Commissioner Bettman was unable to attend due to a medical emergency, the 1400 in attendance were treated to the NHL second in command (Bill Daly) and the Jets brass (Mark Chipman, Kevin Cheveldayoff and Paul Maurice) having a roundtable discussion.

Moose news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Of Moose and men.  Tim writes about the turnover the team has has since the 2010-11 season.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Managing a well-stocked farm.  One thing to have to discuss matters over the phone and another to be able to walk down a hallway to see what the parent club is doing.  The move back to Manitoba should be really helpful for the Moose management.

Metro news:  Manitoba Moose will fill a void – and excite hockey fans.  I was having this discussion the other day with someone and I absolutely agree with Hust.  The fact that fans in Winnipeg will be watching prospects and veterans who will be populating their home team will only add to the value in seeing these games.  As well the cost will make this a very family friendly option.

Prospect news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Josh Morrissey making habit of making it to finals.  More experience and speed has to have Jets or Moose fans excited to see the 2013 1st round pick wearing team colours next season.

David Minuk

Working hard on a daily basis to provide the latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news for our readers and listeners. I also appear on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show every Saturday on our YouTube channel as well as the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show after every single Jets game. And I occasionally jump in the play-by-play booth at Canada Life to provide colour analysis during Manitoba Moose games.
