Winnipeg Free Press:  How to be a perfectly rotten host.  While most visiting players can ignore the fan chants, it adds one more aspect to making the MTS Centre an inhospitable host for opposing teams. Combine the fans noise with the Jets replicating the game they played against the Bolts, and it will be downright intimidating.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Team travel top priorityCount me as someone in favour of the Jets playing in a modified central division.  I’m having very bad deja-vu seeing a young Oilers team on the rise in the West.  Do we really want to face these guys for the next decade?  Aside from that, team travel (not leaving your time zone, distance) are all reasons why being in a modified central division against Minnesota, Chicago, St. Louis, etc makes a lot of senseWhere would you like to see the Jets end up?

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets hope healthy Fehr can add punch to lineupThe Jets are desperate to add some zip to this lineup and hope that Fehr’s return is sooner rather than later although there still isn’t a set time for his return.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Getting into the retail gameThere really isn’t any revenue stream that True North isn’t going to attempt to maximize, so this move is hardly surprising.  Can we expect a Polo Park store soon enough?

Winnipeg Sun:  True Slap Shot storyDon’t expect this type of game tonight but interesting to note how far back Boudreau and Noel go.

Globe and Mail:  Full measure of Jets yet to be takenWith games against the Capitals tonight and an afternoon affair on Saturday against park-loving Ilya Bryzgalov and the Philadelphia Flyers, the Jets will soon see what kind of team they are.

Jets next opponent news – Washington Capitals:

Washington Times:  Has the NHL figured out Alex OvechkinIt is difficult to ever take a superstar like Ovechkin lightly.  Teams that do that tend to see the red light going off numerous times in a game against the Russian sniper.

Washington Post:  Capitals head west to face a franchise for the first time since 1995The last time the Capitals rolled into town was December 10th, 1995.  A game that saw the Caps win 6-1 on the strength of a strong performance from Steve Konowalchuk and his 3 goals and 1 assist.  Winning goalie was Jim Carey.
