Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note:  The Jets return from the two game road trip with two points in the standings bank.  They have a slower week upcoming as they face the Oilers tomorrow night and then don’t play again until Thursday night in Washington.

Jets news:

Ottawa Sun:  Garrioch’s Sunday Column.  In his Sunday he mentions that the Jets are trying to sign Stafford to an extension.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Chevy’s moves made Jets win possible.  Fans were lauding the trades pieces the team received after Myers and Stafford played such big roles in the huge win last night in Detroit.

Winnipeg Free Press:  High praise for Enstrom.  He is often maligned but drew some kudos from coach Babcock.  Gary also writes about another potential trade target, overworking top four D and healthy Helm.

Winnipeg Sun:  New Jets help clip Wings.  When the team was down 3-1 against a very tough Detroit team it was not looking good but they certainly turned things around quickly at Joe Louis Arena.

Detroit Free Press:  Wings blanked in shootout, lose dogfight with Jets 5-4.  Read about the game from an opposition beat writer.

Detroit News:  Howard’s return yields familiar result: shootout loss.  In his first game back there was certainly some rust as was evidenced by his dropping the Stafford shot which tied the game at 3.

Sportsnet:  Coach’s Corner (video).  Ron MacLean and Don Cherry talk about who will benefit the most from the Evander Kane trade.

The Windsor Star:  Maurice changes Jets’ culture.  The bench boss has certainly gotten his players to buy in and folks across the NHL are taking notice.

Boston Globe:  Jets addressed present, future in Evander Kane trade.  Fluto Shinzawa breaks down the big deal with a Bruins perspective.

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice post-game (audio).  Assessing the game.  On Myers.  On Stafford.  Being able to claw back from a deficit.  On the play of Hutchinson.  Small picture, how does he like the trade right now?  Did the GM do his job this week?  Being able to reference this game later on in this season.  Why use Stafford in the shootout?
