Note:  The Jets return to the ice at the MTS Centre for an 11 am practice before departing for Arizona where they are set to take on the Coyotes on Thursday in Glendale at 8 pm.

Note II:  NHL Mid-Week with Illegal Curve returns to TSN 1290 Winnipeg tonight from holiday hiatus starting at 6 pm CST.  The guys will discuss the Jets loss to the Sharks, look ahead to the game against the Coyotes and take a look around the NHL. Guests: Michael Traikos (National Post) and Tyson Nash (Arizona Coyotes TV Analyst, FOX Sports Arizona).

Jets news:

ESPN:  Grading every team based by WJC prospects.  Jets are one of the highest graded teams with an A. Pronman has notes on every drafted prospect. The article requires you to be an ESPN Insider to read it.

USA Today:  Top 25 NHL potential unrestricted free agents.  Jets fans have to hope that Frolik’s name will be off this list and signed long term by the organization.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets not making excuses.  No time in this league for excuses.  The best this team can do is learn from their mistakes and attempt to ensure they don’t happen again.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Defencemen Stuart, Enstrom back at Jets team practice.  And not a moment too soon for the Jets.  While they may not be back immediately it sounds like some may be ahead of schedule and that can only be good news for this depleted blue line.

Winnipeg Sun:  Home not-so-sweet home.  Jets fans will have to hope the team can continue their road domination and eventually figure out how to win some games at home.  They only have four more games in January at the MTS Centre while they play eight on the road so it would prove beneficial to maintain that high road winning percentage.

Winnipeg Sun:  Stuart says he has no regrets about getting injured in fight.  Paul starts his column with Mark Stuart talking about why he wouldn’t change the way he plays.  Also discusses how the loss to the Sharks still stings, Scheifele’s goal drought and Hellebuyck representing the IceCaps in the AHL All-Star game.

Illegal Curve:  Jets cancel Teemu Selanne Tribute Night viewing party.  The Jets said a lack of ticket sales (the proceeds went to the True North Foundation) meant they had to cancel the viewing party.  So fans will have to say goodbye to the Finnish Flash somewhere else.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  The Big Show (audio).  After taking seven more penalties against the Sharks, Dennis Beyak explains that the referees are well aware of the reputation Winnipeg is starting to get around the NHL.
