Note:  The third game in the four game home stand goes tonight against the Bruins at 7 pm at the MTS Centre.  The Jets have won one and lost one so far as they attempt to recover from the latest injury news.  As always we will have plenty of coverage before and after the game so keep it locked here as well as with the latest updates via our twitter account @illegalcurve.

Note II:  I missed the papers on Thursday so in case you did as well, I’ve included them in today’s papers and indicated if they are from the 17th.

Note III: The Illegal Curve Hockey Show will be on TSN 1290 Radio on Saturday afternoon, from 12 Noon – 300 PM. Join Drew, Richard and Ezra as they recap tonight’s Jets-Bruins game, and preview Sunday night’s Jets-Flyers game. Scheduled guests include Calgary Flames General Manager Brad Treliving, Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News, and Mike Greenlay, Minnesota Wild colour analyst on Fox Sports North. Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets blue-line injury woes worsen with Mark Stuart out until February.  The Jets bench boss has to wonder what is going on with this many injuries to his defensive unit.

National Post:  Jets face tough stretch after rash of injuries leaves their defensive corps depleted: ‘This is our adversity’.  I would have thought that the word adversity was sufficient when coach Maurice announced on December 3rd that they would be without Clitsome, Enstrom and Bogosian’s services for awhile.  Add Trouba and now Stuart to that mix and this is bordering on insanity.

Illegal Curve:  Jets acquire Jay Harrison from Carolina Hurricanes.  While the players called up from St. John’s have filled in quite well it was expected that GM Kevin Cheveldayoff would make a move to acquire another defenceman and that’s just what he did on Thursday.  Readan assessment of Harrison from our own Richard Pollock.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  The Rona Roundtable (audi0).  Tavis Yost of TSN’s Analytics Department spoke with Rick about what the numbers say about the Jets solid start to the season.

Thursday Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press (Thurs):  D-men tops in speed and power as Jets strut their stuff.  It was the first skills competition I had to miss hut it sure sounds like those at the MTS Centre on Wednesday night had a good time.

Winnipeg Free Press (Thurs):  The Whiteboard – Killing a two-man advantage (video).  J.P. breaks out his whiteboard for another lesson.  Always worth a click.

Winnipeg Sun (Thurs):  Jets coach Paul Maurice doing a masterful job.  His system is about to get the biggest test of its life as the Jets make do with their makeshift roster.  The coach has done an excellent job to date.  He has this team with eight more points in 2014/15 than they did 32 games into 2013/14.

Winnipeg Sun (Thurs):  Goaltending among the biggest factors in Winnipeg Jets improvement.   Many pundits felt prior to the start of the season that the goalie situation was the Achilles heel of this team.

Bruins news:

Boston Herald:  Bruins Notebook – Claude Julien likes Craig Cunningham.  Bruins looking at the young winger to contribute.  Sounds like David Krejci still has his injury in his head.
