Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Hockey runs in Lowry blood. Adam Lowry’s dad Dave was in Brandon to coach the CHL Subway Super Series and Gary caught up with him to discuss the family ties to the game.
Winnipeg Free Press: That’s an offensive idea. While you’d certainly like to see your scoring horses turned loose the reality is that the Jets need to play the somewhat cautious defensive style in order to complete.
Winnipeg Free Press: Habs too much to handle. The Jets were in this game and simply couldn’t beat Price or the post which should have been voted 2nd start of the game.
Winnipeg Sun: Eight is enough for Jets. As Ken suggests the game was closer than the score indicates but clearly this Jets team needs to start adding some goals for to the boxscore. Of course part of the new mantra is to not get too high after a win or too low after a loss, so even moments after the defeat the players and coach were changing their focus to Carolina.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets pause to reflect on Remembrance Day. It is a day to reflect on how fortunate we are to live in a free and open society. Chris Thorburn and Bryan Little reflected on what the day means to them when chatting with Ken. A phrase that can be see at the Winnipeg Centogaph on Memorial Blvd “Know all ye who pass by that for your tomorrow we gave our today” is one that really sums up the day for me.
Montreal Gazette: Price at his best stopping Jets on breakaways. Read the thoughts of the Jets opponents and what they thought of the win over Winnipeg.
CHL: Subway Super Series. The Jets have three players on Team Canada (Petan, Comrie and Morrissey) but the star of the game was Jets 2014 6th round pick (164th overall) Pavel Kraskovsky. He finished the game with two goals and was voted Player of the Game.
Illegal Curve: Blake Wheeler talks about ‘family atmosphere’ in Winnipeg. I thought the comments made by the big winger on NHL Live were quite interesting as they reminded me of the things that past Jets great Dale Hawerchuk would say about living and playing in the city of Winnipeg.
Globe and Mail: Are the Jets poised for takeoff? This was a late addition to the Afternoon Links so I’m including it this morning for those who may have missed it. Folks are finally chatting about the Jets and the current run. There is still healthy skepticism about whether it can be maintained but the Jets are getting people talking.
Sportsnet: If the playoffs started today: Canadian edition. While fans across the nation would love to see more Canadian teams in the playoffs we will likely have a better idea around US Thanksgiving.
Canadiens 3 Jets 0:
Illegal Curve: Coach Maurice post-game (audio). Lots of chances, just couldn’t get it to go in. Lack of familiarity with a regulation loss. Does Carey Price deserve credit? A belief in hockey gods? What advice or does he give to the players on scoring? Was he happy with the way the guys handled being “down”. On chances. On pulling Pavelec early.
