Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Wanna fight? Bring it. By continuing to add points to their bank fans don’t care how you win because it shows a commitment to winning and that is all that matters to the folks who pay the bills.
Winnipeg Free Press: Kane shows he’s 100% with Howe hat trick. It was pretty clear that the young gun has been ready to go for some time and fans have to be hopeful that this was his coming out party. Now they’d like to see less fighting and more scoring from #9 but the emotion he showed on Thursday was loved by the crowd.
Winnipeg Free Press: Road not so sinister now. The Jets have another big road trip that begins today in Ottawa and sees them hit four other cities before a return to the friendly confines of the MTS Centre. While the opponents aren’t as daunting as a trip to California the Jets cannot to afford to take anyone lightly.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets vs. Senators gameday. Coach Maurice attempts to maintain the even keel approach in the face of the enthusiasm for his team’s 5-0-2 stretch.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets find ugly to be beautiful during hot streak. If it means winning games and pushing to a playoff spot at season’s end Jets fans will surely find the beauty in the face of such ‘ugliness’.
TSN: Statistically speaking. In Scott Cullen’s analytics article he lists the Jets winger under the heroes category.
TSN 1290 Winnipeg: Shutouts pile up for Jets goaltending tandem. Here is Paul’s bi-weekly column on what he’s seen from this team the last few weeks.
ESPN: Pucks Central. Lots of chatter about this Winnipeg squad as two of the five ESPN writers (Custance and LeBrun) mentioned the Jets game against the Penguins in their ‘Just a Thought’ piece.
Illegal Curve: Top 5 Winnipeg Jets home games. There have been 113 games at the MTS Centre since the NHL returned to Winnipeg and I tried to pick out my top five. Wasn’t an easy task. Feel free to share yours.
Illegal Curve: Coach Maurice scrum (audio). Starts with chat about Lowry’s play. Being able to “hang” with elite teams, what does his team need to do to become an ‘elite’ team? How much does it help him knowing that he has players who know there is still a lot of room for growth? All the players buying in. On having an ‘ugly’ identity. Can they play this style all season? What did he think of the Byfuglien hit on Downie after the Pens goal? With the momentum they are building is he less concerned about going on the road for an “ugly block”? Does he need to qualify to his players about fighting?
TSN 1290 Winnipeg: The Big Show (audio). The Sheriff, Shane Hnidy joined the guys to discuss the Jets’ shootout loss to the Penguins, and how the team can build from the loss.
Senators news:
Ottawa Citizen: Mark Stone, Mike Hoffman staying put in Ottawa, too. Looks like the Winnipegger (Stone) and the rest of the ‘Kid line’ are staying up with the big club. Plenty of Senators news in this column to get you informed on the Jets opposition.
