Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note:  We are now at day 18 of training camp and while the team didn’t hit the ice yesterday there was plenty of action from the management of the Jets.  The remaining 26 players return to the ice today at the MTS Centre at 11 am.  It remains closed to the public.  Be sure to stick to @illegalcurve for all the latest news.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets counting on veteran coach.  Will the coach be able to have a dramatic impact on roughly the same team that the Jets iced last season?

National Post:  Jets need to turn years of patience into immediate success.  A story about the tough situation they are in with all the big boys in the Central.  An interesting Jets Yearbook PDF comes along with the article.

Winnipeg Sun:  Roster renovations for Jets.   Plenty of action as the Jets made it a noteworthy Sunday for media and fans alike.  Now the question is who is gonna be the man backing up Ondrej Pavelec?

USA Today:  Jets preview – Last in Central.  It isn’t difficult to figure out where Kevin Allen is picking your Winnipeg Jets when you see that headline.  Usual preview fare including additions, subtractions, goaltending, analysis, breakthrough candidate, youngster to watch, what the team really need, key question and forecast.

TSN:  Budaj requested a trade out of Montreal.  Obviously he saw the writing on the wall in Montreal and this is a better opportunity to fight for a chance at a #1 goalie spot and a back-up role.

Illegal Curve:  Jets re-assign seven players from training camp.  Not much of a surprise as the Jets made some moves on Sunday.

Illegal Curve:  Jets trade Tangradi to the Canadiens.  Added a back-up goalie and some more AHL depth for a player that wasn’t really in the plans for this organization.

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice update on Tobias Enstrom.  Following the 4-1 win over the Flames on Saturday, coach Maurice brought the media up to speed on the status of Tobias Enstrom.  Expect a more detailed report today.

IceCaps news:

The Telegram:  IceCaps might get another goalie out of Tangradi trade.  Interesting that the Bulldogs and IceCaps happened to be in the same building when the trade went down.  Made it easier for Tangradi and Holland to switch teams.
