Winnipeg Jets miss prime opportunity to take control of Central Division as Utah wins 4-1

It wasn’t a must-win game for Winnipeg but it would have gone a long way to securing top spot in the Central. Instead it’s a missed opportunity as Utah won 4-1. Why a missed opportunity you say? It is because the Stars lost this afternoon to the Penguins in Dallas which meant a win by the Jets would have given them a six point edge in the division (although the Stars would have held a game in hand).

For those who would like to take a deeper dive into the advanced stats click here to see the results from the game via Natural Stat Trick.

Notable:

Mark Scheifele became the first Jets 2.0 player to 800 points when he scored his 38th on the power play to get the Jets on the board. He only trails Thomas Steen (817) and Dale Hawerchuk (929) on the All-Time points list in a Winnipeg NHL uniform.

Multi Point Game:

None.
