The Department of Player Safety will be calling Mark Scheifele today as the Jets top centre will have a phone hearing for his charge on the Habs Jake Evans, which knocked the forward from the game and necessitated him being taken off the ice on a stretcher.
He was given five minute penalty and a game misconduct for the hit.
The reaction on social media was, as expected, rather mixed with some folks (including former NHLers) saying it was a hockey play and what else could Scheifele do, while others are ready to see 55 tossed for the remainder of the playoffs.
As this is a phone hearing the maximum suspension is five games.
The good news about Evans reported by John Shannon last night was:
Told that Jake Evans is at the Canadiens’ Hotel in Winnipeg. Doing fine. Alert. But shaken.
Where do you think this ends up? Stay tuned to find out.
