Winnipeg Jets lose Mark Scheifele in the 1st period of game 1

Not a great start to the play-in series for the Jets as top centre Mark Scheifele was forced to leave the game early in the 1st period after suffering an injury to his leg. He was unable to put any weight on the leg and had to be helped off the ice.  Here is the video.

This would be a catastrophic loss for Winnipeg if it is lengthy.

Update:

The Jets confirmed to start the 2nd that Mark Scheifele wouldn’t return to the game.

Update II:

Following the game Jets bench boss Paul Maurice didn’t mince his words calling the hit a “filthy, disgusting hit” which he felt was intentional.  He also added that Scheifele would see a specialist on Sunday.  You can listen to his full media availability here.
